My first time in the French Quarter did not go so well for me, 35 years ago, a Bar that sold a drink called The Hang Grenades. and I had to drive to Diane's parents in the morning. :(
Went back a few times but hanged with locals and only drank Gin and Tonics / Lime. No problems. And we all went down to the French Quarter, and as semi sober that I was, it was a Revelation.

Song:
"Young Blood" by "Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders"
Anyone remember the band that performed this on Happy Days. Yes I was not a fan of the TV Show, but my Dad lived in the time this fictional TV show happened.
First time I went to N.O. I was with a girlfriend from Indianapolis who had live a very sheltered life. We ended up at Pat O'Brien's sports bar about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. We were watching the NCCA basketball tournament, drinking beer and eating crayfish. At some point I went to the bathroom and after I got back, so says "I just ordered a triple shot of gin." I'm like "where is it?" She says "I drank it!" I'm like "why????" She thought it would a way to really get in the N.O. vibe. 30 minutes later she managed to lock herself in the bathroom and was too drunk to open the door. They had to take the door off the hinges. We left her car parked on Royal St. and took a cab to our hotel room on Airline Highway. She spent the next 35 hours in bed.
Never much enjoyed "hard liquor"...as we used to call it when younger...plus in the UK it was often pretty pricey...so apple ciders remain my tipple of choice when at a live show/pub.
Ciders are great there...& no I'm not talking high octane scrumpy...which was more popular with "the lads".
I enjoy some of the newer ginger apple ciders. They're spicy & not overly sweet.

KevyKev&Tracy:
Pete wasn't a pounder like Ringo was.
But I became a Sound Man and my OPINION did not matter. My Job was to either show a band's sound Guy the parts of the board, or do the work for whoever. Where as I love Davo and helped him when he was Meat Puppets Sound Guy. Davo did the board work, way back for Black Flag.
Both my parents were heavily into music... fortunately. I'm sure there was hardly a time when a radio wasn't on in the background at least in some room while growing up.
As to newer artists...I caught the new (non 3D version) Billie Eilish doc/concert film last week. It was a really incredible film with lots of interesting off-stage prep footage too. I'm glad I learned more about her fans & the phenomenal inspiration/impact she has had on such a wide ranging group of, admittedly, much younger music lovers. I think it's a great film regardless of whether one enjoys her music.

But I became a Sound Man and my OPINION did not matter. My Job was to either show a band's sound Guy the parts of the board, or do the work for whoever. Where as I love Davo and helped him when he was Meat Puppets Sound Guy. Davo did the board work, way back for Black Flag.WLSClark:

Both my parents were heavily into music... fortunately. I'm sure there was hardly a time when a radio wasn't on in the background at least in some room while growing up.As to newer artists...I caught the new (non 3D version) Billie Eilish doc/concert film last week.
