I'm doing okay! Also, the number one thing I'm looking forward to when I get a car (aside from driving) is going to the car wash :-)
I used to LOVE going to car washes when I was a kid :-)

I've got some hits today but also a lot of deeper cuts :-)
I admit my general opinion of Elton was largely formed by the Candle in the Wind cashgrab in 1997, which struck me…badly. My reluctance with Taupin stems purely from a physical resemblance to someone from my childhood, and that is not his fault.
I can't even get a full wetsuit on with a working shoulder so I totally feel your pain <3

Song:
"I've Seen That Movie Too" by "Elton John"
I haven't heard this for so long! I remember listening to this the first time in Summer of 2008 when I was discovering Elton John's music for the first time. I heard Goodbye Yellow Brick Road for the first time after seeing a story online about Ben & Jerry special limited edition tribute for Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. I lived in Africa at the time and had never had Ben & Jerry's and wondered what it tasted like. Some memories.
Here is a list from Ben & Jerry's of some of their music themed ice cream flavours. Cherry Garcia is at #1. Never had a chance to taste it (I guess I was born too late and was located elsewhere). Link: www.benjerry.com...

Oh, by the way ... for my pre birthday present on June 5th, Chris bought me a meet and greet ticket, so I may be somewhat flushed during my show :-)
Ahhh wonderful! I've never seen a tumbleweed in real life. I'm afraid I've seen one only in the Big Lebowski movie and in the music video for Captain Beefheart's "Ice Cream for Crow".
I also wonder what Seattle and Vancouver must have been in the early 1970s. I want to think it must have had a magic of its own.
I used to listen this record a lot during my very first semester of Bachelor's Degree at University. It was a tough year. I had "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" as my alarm every other week.
I am not liking it for a bit, Aitch. I genuinely really really hate being as old as I am.

61 - started working out at the gym
Soon to 62 and working up to lifting AND getting a driving licence
It's never too late <3
Just to clarify, I had that song as an alarm just for the opening piano part which would really wake me up. :)
It was a tough year just because I was a terrible student in the beginning of my University journey hahahah. I have had far worse mental health days years later.
Life is just a ride, some times are bad and some times are good. It is a rollercoaster and we the people of the world ought to stick together. :)

BTW I did ask my Roshi if he new of a Zendo in Brighton UK. He said no and refered me to another member of the sanga who lives on the Isle of Wright. I'll ask her next time I see her on line.
Travel. Conversations. New things. Adventure. Mix with all ages and nationalities. Be curious about life. That's how to get older rather than get OLD. :-)
Things like banjo, mando, oud, saz, etc. are basically what let me adapt to alternate tunings quickly. But for whatever reason fretboards have always just made sense to me.
Is there a particular open tuning that you preferred for the guitar?
I am thinking of playing around with non-standard tunings to change things up. Only one I've ever tried is C-C-C-C-C-C (known as the Ostrich as coined by Lou Reed).
What I really want to do is get back into audio production: editing, mashing, creating collages. I haven't done that since college, and that was 30 years ago.
Thanks, Stanley. A talk show host who has been in the news a lot lately once said "Existing is a gift". Not being dead is the only reason one needs for being happy indeed.
On this side of the pond that's usually called "glam tuning" for Gerry Shephard. If you haven't, give open G or C6 a shot, alongside DADGAD and the usual Drop Ds.
I've been trying out modal C lately. I used to be all about open D variants, but now I'm in Em and all fourths. Then I go back and practice in standard
I am jealous. I think if I saw them I might faint from laughter. But they have polished those pieces so you can pluck your eyebrows in the reflection. I really look forward to seeing how they evolve: I see so much possibility for them.

Isn't the talk box the same instrument that is used on those keyboard driven jingles like 'Monday... tuesday' etc and 'Whoopie'?
There were two things like it in the late 30s, but I think Alvino Rey was first. (I'd need to look it up.) Got used as fx in radio shows, etc. I think the "talking guitar" was first popularised on steel guitar outta Nashville (Pete Drake?). The Ventures also found one in the mid 60s.

They started as a legitimate group founded by singer Clyde McPhatter, but he sold his share of the band to the manager when he left the group, giving the manager complete control. The manager paid the group a rather paltry set amount and fired them when they demanded more money.

There were two things like it in the late 30s, but I think Alvino Rey was first. (I'd need to look it up.) Got used as fx in radio shows, etc. I think the "talking guitar" was first popularised on steel guitar outta Nashville (Pete Drake?). The Ventures also found one in the mid 60s.DJ GeorgyGirl:
