that credit of "backing band" is entirely in error, as the original tracks on that album predate it by are as much as ten years and are from different sessions. i don't recall seeing it on the record itself, i think it's just a quirk of the discogs page

hey zzz! this period is a real favorite of mine generally but this Japanese tour is very late within that period and they got extra deep-weird with it, the Tokyo tapes are very very highly recommended as well (and have better sound than this one, which is great but a bit murky, with Miles a little low in the mix). Mtume and Cosey especially experimental throughout

Re: Winston Riley – Meditation Dub
As it relates it to the mixing question, I believe there was an earlier release, which combined another album called Concrete Jungle Dub.
On that album the backing band is called Riley All Stars. A portion of the mixing was done by King Tubby and a portion by Winston Riley.
i'll never "move on" from Meditation Dub, it's one of my favorite records! that's very interesting, maybe it really is Winston at the controls - if so, i wish he'd dubbed more often!

Flash Strap: hey zzz! this period is a real favorite of mine generally but this Japanese tour is very late within that period and they got extra deep-weird with it, the Tokyo tapes are very very highly recommended as well (and have better sound than this one, which is great but a bit murky, with Miles a little low in the mix). Mtume and Cosey especially experimental throughout

Re: Winston Riley – Meditation Dub
As it relates it to the mixing question, I believe there was an earlier release, which combined another album called Concrete Jungle Dub.
On that album the backing band is called Riley All Stars. A portion of the mixing was done by King Tubby and a portion by Winston Riley.
