I remember playing at a cavernous venue in Leipzig many years ago. It was winter and freezing. The corner of the venue had this MASSIVE stove, and the organisers chucked a whole load of wood and assorted old floorboards into it, and an hour later the place was like a furnace. Incredible.

smit: With these old classic tunes, has anyone heard this youngster, itsaronofficial on Instagram? He's an old soul and writes a lot of tunes in the crooner style, has a beautiful voice, and is a great guitar and piano player. The dude is great, as are sooo many singer/songwriters I've come across on Instagram!

He's got this very sensitive vocal delivery and kinda lives within that sound. Most importantly, not corny, but some of the lyrics may bring one back to a different era. He's pals with mei_semones who was at Big Ears this year. They sound great together.

doctorjazz: Been a great show, Irene (busy as usual at the office, not commenting). Have you ever heard the Keith Jarret folk-rock singer album, Restoration Ruin? I just got it, very interesting (but not required listening). Also just got Carla Bley's Joyful Noise Live In Hamburg 1984; I'd say that IS required listening...
