I’m told the congregation is a resilient bunch. The church’s founding (at a different location) predated the Civil War. May have been an Underground Railroad station? Don’t quote me
Yes, given the drive, I'll see all the current shows. There's no standing collection, except for outdoor sculpture. So, with lunch, it's a nice way to spend a couple of hours and also get a walk in the hills. The museum just reopened for the year; it closes each winter.

trying to figure out what Spjärnsvallet means. this sort of thing doesn't help all that much: "Spjärnsvallet” the “fångster svälla” which roughly translates as “catches…swell”...?
near as i can tell, spjärn in Swedish means to push back, or brace oneself. svälla or svallet seems to be "used both to concretely describe sudden movements of bodies of water, as well as more abstractly (for example to describe emotions)". So like bracing yourself against the tide, be it water of emotions? that's as close as i can get. it seems to be slightly archaic
