I think they fell victim to the times in that "national" acts playing that club level kept asking for more guaranteed money than a small-ish club could reasonably fork over. (I had a booking co. in the 90's). Same thing now with all these tribute acts..cheaper than nationals and many can fill a 300 - 500 seat theater so financially it works for both sides
I was teling my story seeing 4 tiny blue eggs of a mockingbird couple in a nest built at eye level. And they disappeared. I was looking forward to seeing life and feedings.

Adam from Portland:
Folks these days aren’t as blown away by the Jackson 5 grooves as they should be. Lil Mike had such a crazy voice for such a young dude.
Alton Brown says some questionable things from time to time. Pickling food is big in Polish cuisine, and pickled beets with onions was a summer staple.
As an aside, I disliked asparagus as a kid, but it turns out that was because I didn't like them unless they were roasted or sauteed with olive oil and other ingredients. Boiled asparagus is anathema to me.
It’s just so sad that it all comes down to money. Usually not for the acts themselves. Why I loved living in Austin, free music everywhere, all the time. It was heaven. Can’t afford hundreds of $ to see a band now or ever if I’m honest. For example Lyle Lovett at the Winery in Orange County, $200, no thanks. Twenty odd years ago at the Bottom Line was like $20. Maybe I’m just too old, who knows!

Yeah...in dfense of artists touring is just very very expensive and with the lack of record slaes (for most all but the biggest acts) touring and merch is where they make their living. Not as glamourous as so many think it is.
Recently Live Nation lost a Supreme Court case which branded them a monopoly.
Wheteher that will help bring down ticket prices or not remains to be seen (not likely imo)
I love Lovett..not $200.00 bucks worth of love)
He played Delaware Valley HS in Milford, PA many many years ago...$10.00
And boiled Brussels sprouts! Who does that? My mother. Love roasted Brussels, steamed or roasted asparagus. Any veg I hated as a kid was because my mom boiled the hell out of them until they tasted like ass! Ah, she did the best she could. Glad I can do better!

Song:
"Alternative Ulster" by "Stiff Little Fingers"
Good Morning Clay and glisteners from Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, I was at the gym glistening and exercising. That Stepford Wives song is so great I bought it off Bandcamp. WFMU and Clay always introduce me to great new music. A friend of mine put some Stiff Little Fingers' songs on a mixed tape thirty years ago. I had never heard of them and was happy to discover them.
Beet salad -- which I love -- was one of the things my mom would tuck into my lunchbox that embarrassed me terribly. I was so jealous of my American friends who ate PB&J sandwiches on neat squares of white bread. Of course, I was eating great stuff, but you know what it's like in middle school when you just want to fit in.
I was in my late 30s when I saw Lydia Bastianich roasting Brussels sprouts like little cabbage leaves with plenty of EVOO, garlic and balsamic vinegar.
My mother never met a vegetable that she didn't absolutely boil to death. The one saving grace was that she frequently toasted bread crumbs in butter and added them to the murdered veggies to make them "a la Polonaise." Sigh.
Are you and I the only two living humans who remember Chris Jagger released an LP (70's I think)?
No idea never heard a single track... I remember the cover photo of him
I feel your pain, kinda. At Passover my mom sent us to school with matzoh “sandwiches” which just had cream cheese in them. Imagine what happens when that comes outta yer lunch box? To boot, the cream cheese melts into the matzoh and well, it’s just bad. I’ll trade my matzoh sandwiches for your beets!❤️
😂😂😂. I’m laughing in solidarity! Our house was always “on a diet”, but occasionally she would heat up Matzoh meal in butter and dabble that on asparagus, otherwise the only reprieve was Stouffers creamed spinach or Spinach soufflé, which was a hell of a good reprieve!😊
Yeah, I must have watched that and awakened my desire to try BS again. Chefs kiss! I just roast with EVOO and sea salt they caramelize and are delicious! Yummmmm
My HS friend Fred played with Big Paul in John Ashton's Satellite Paradiso. Only did one disc before John's battle with cancer began. Hoping for another in the future.

My mom's wheelhouse was with Polish dishes and baking. We'd ask her for recipes, but she talked of ratios based on the number of babkas, for example, that she wanted to make at one time. She'd have over a dozen of varying sizes ready for Easter. I helped her with the mechanical aspects like assembling stuffed cabbage, pierogi, and such. When she had dementia, we sat together watching PBS cooking shows. It was soothing for both of us.

Maybe I’m just too old, who knows!morphe':

Oh, that sounds lovely.?**?: Yeah...in dfense of artists touring is just very very expensive and with the lack of record slaes (for most all but the biggest acts) touring and merch is where they make their living.

My mom's wheelhouse was with Polish dishes and baking. We'd ask her for recipes, but she talked of ratios based on the number of babkas, for example, that she wanted to make at one time. She'd have over a dozen of varying sizes ready for Easter. I helped her with the mechanical aspects like assembling stuffed cabbage, pierogi, and such. When she had dementia, we sat together watching PBS cooking shows. It was soothing for both of us.PaulRobeson1926: The 1990’s not the gay 1890?
