Hello MHLee!

Hey all. Working away here but dropping in to say Hi...For the folx on the other side of the Atlantic, please stay safe in the heat! We would consider those temps nice in NYC but I realize that a lot of the UK/EU isn't set up for it...

Hello Threemoons, we're in the middle of a thunderstorm here in the NL. While I was typing this a bright flash, immediately followed by a very loud bang occured. Like a bomb went off...

Hello Adam!

We would love some thunderstorms here. We get one every few years, if we’re lucky. Always very exciting for the citizens of LA.
For that matter, RAIN is considered very exciting here.

It was 94 F this afternoon. It's dropping to low 80s now...
♥
:
Also for those in the heat zone with gardens: Pro tip from my late Mom, a botanist: Water your garden in the EVENING. That way the plants have a cool night to soak it up, as opposed to water sitting on the leaves and heating up and potentially steaming delicate new growth/buds. Especially good to know for tomato plants and strawberries if that's what you have going on, as well as roses and narcissus/marigolds/other "grow em in a big pot on your porch" flowers.

Well, it's something. We had a rip of hot days a few weeks ago but we're used to having a "fool's summer" -- NYC has 8 seasons, not 4; the transitional seasons are always a bit wonky. At this point we would all like it to get around to heating up. Memorial Day can go either way; cold and miserable (it rained nonstop for 3 days and pretty much washed out a 3 day weekend; street fairs weren't cancelled but were under attended etc).
♥
:
In prior years though, we've seen 95F Memorial Day weekends and hotter. It's also both snowed and been in the 90s on Easter. Having one of the world's only fjordic rivers (the Hudson) gives us this sort of weird microclimate; it acts like a bowling alley for both cold air from Canada and hot, wet storms from the South.

Yes, temps those high in Europe are nightmarish—London had both daytime and night all-time temperature highs for the month of May this week. World be cookin'

all the heat reports are strange indeed, as here in the stinkin' desert we're enjoying a period of relative cool and cloud, which is like a holiday in itself
