Of course this show will contain SOME New Orleans tunes, but when I do these mothership fill-ins I cast a wider geographic net. Rock/funk/soul/blues/etc. will be comin' at you from all over the map. But of course, as Ernie K-Doe once said, "I'm not sure, but I think all music comes from New Orleans."
sadly, he's a bit outside of my wheelhouse so I'll have to leave it to those who are more knowledgeable

Oh man...Darlene Love. You are playing solid stuff and I see your listeners have great musical knowledge.Would Ike White fit in your set? I heard a track on Gilles Peterson show on BBC 6 Music last week and grabbed a copy on Record Store Day but haven't had down time to even o ppl en it. WFMU constantly keeps me entertained so my own collection is taking a back seat. BBC 6 plays some great stuff, but WFMU hits it out of TY he park and has no rivals. You guys are great.

When I was 13, in 1973, my older sister bought this Sly Stone Lp. It blew me away. I was so into Prog and this Lp blew my mind. It was an easy jump to Jazz Fusion.

Jeff Beck "Blow By Blow" , Tommy Bolin "Teaser" & Return To Forever "Romantic Warrior" were on high rotation at our house. Johnny Cash, Bach and Hendrix and more. Great time to me a music loving kid.
I was talking with an audio engineer friend of mine in NOLA last week about some of the crazy sessions he has worked on. He's going to send me a playlist of things you would never expect to have a NOLA connection that I can play on my show. For example, he already sent me an MF Doom track with New Orleans drummer Shannon Powell on it. I can't wait to see what else he comes up with.
