When it’s so hot and I’ve got the ac on I can’t hear the birds in the morning. Miss birds-chattering. Yesterday they had some incredible gossip about the sun. 🌞
When I saw the prices for butter in the supermarket yesterday, I felt "lost" but more so, miffed. $9? You must be kidding! I felt like starting a Controversy with the cashier but it ain't their fault. I was as polite as always. But I know that corporate boards of food companies are gouging us.
Hey, Sean. I ended up ordering one from Company B that is being delivered today. The first one from Company A is arriving possibly tomorrow. I'd previously considered getting two anyway.
All the blinds are closed, tower fans and turbo fans are running which helps a bit.
I was just thinking of him the other day. He was so funny. Loved him in The Twelve Chairs, Mel Brooks' second film. Ann Bancroft wrote and directed Fatso starring Dom.

I love KV but this new track isn’t moving me. 🤷🏾♂️
I know everyone is going to throw tomatoes at me, but I find Kurt Vile's music kind of boring. Reminds me of The War on Drugs, which is a little better, but they both get old fast. I think of this kind of music as "GenX dadcore" - it's what old GenXers listen to because it's what's still playing on the channels they frequent. (It's edgy for NPR). I know I should keep this opinion to myself, but I can't.
Hi Amsterdam Eric, I enjoy the fact that the Wake community has all sorts of musical tastes. I have stated that I don't understand the appeal of Nirvana and yet many glisteners love that band. p.s. I was happy to hear from Paul that you had such a sweet meet-up!
Oh man, it was great. I hope others hit me up when they come to Amsterdam. We shared all of our DJ loves and hates over beers! But ultimately, we both loved most of the same things.
Nice! I will definitely reach out when we get there sometime in the next few years, I hope. My brother lived there in the 80s so I went a few times but haven't been back since.
I love it but I get you. Some stuff is very age dependent and I find myself liking things I used to loathe or dismiss. Reminds me of an editor from the old deadspin talking about it when they started defector: the site was essentially about aging, not really sports & culture.

Query for the cognoscenti here (Syd? Charles?): I am trying to upgrade reception in the bathroom boombox so I can WFMU out back without hauling the computer out there. Trying to decide between two radios from a good radio company. The larger one, with a 5" speaker, is supposedly "optimized for radio reception" but does not, as far as I can tell, have an FM mono setting. The mini radio DOES have an FM mono setting but runs only on batteries (recharging possible) and has a small speaker (although one could line out to, say, the current boombox).
So ... what think? Go for the larger or trust the FM mono setting, which is what allows clear reception on the stereo at the other end of the apt.?

It's what we resort to, but because of [reasons], that means hauling the laptop and ethernet cable outside, which means the back door can't close all the way, which means the dog is constantly opening it, which means the cats are getting out and the bugs are getting in. This is part of what we're trying to solve!
Not strong enough to get out through the back door. Not really strong enough to get all the way to the front room to reliably connect my computer to my work computer. So I tend to be hardwired.

I know I should keep this opinion to myself, but I can't.briania: Pixx, an old Wake favorite!

we need to oxidize the carotenoids!Handy Haversack: Query for the cognoscenti here (Syd?

This is part of what we're trying to solve!DjLorraine:
