Someone offered me a sale on a few CDs of both shows, but I'm not terribly familiar with either. I believe they were CDs sent to radio stations. The only major syndicated music programming we got in my area was American Top 40 and a classic rock show that I can't recall the title of.
first time i heard gang green (in the 80s, possibly on Irwin's show) i *knew* they'd sped-up the instrumental track. ...the guitar sounds artificially higher-pitched, and there's no way the drummer can play that fast...
in time i found i was wrong, and duly impressed!

So apparently, this is an all girls Korean band of high schoolers who traveled to southeast Asia during the middle of the Vietnam War to start a music career, and here they are playing a translated ska cover of Elvis Presley. They later made their way across, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa to Spain and ended up playing with Cliff Richard and Julio Iglesias.
i missed it, tuning in late as usual. i saw it on the playlist, spelled differently, and i wondered if it was the jerry's kids i know. (i don't know all the song titles)
no doubt. and supposedly some of Robert Johnson's records were sped-up a bit. i've heard them slowed back down to the speculated actual pitch, and it doesn't sound legit! -but maybe just cuz i'm so used to them as they were released.

Glam rock band Sweeney Todd's 2nd album sped up a young Bryan Adams voice by a ridiculous amount, like over 8%. Adams has been trying to bury that album's existence for decades.
the saw was used in what i consider the best version of "cosmia", on what i consider far & away the best Joanna Newsom release, "Joanna Newsom & the ys street band". it's not at all a novelty in the way it's used; it's beautiful.
Conversely, every version of The Doors' "Light My Fire" with the exception of the original mono 45 were slowed down for decades due to a mastering error, until it was fixed for the anniversary remasters.

Jan Turkenburg has four two hour shows a week now and often keeps the shows going while under the weather. I've told him before that he probably does more work than some paid professional DJs at this point, but he clearly enjoys it.
I've played mandolin/mandola but I don't think I've ever even touched a tenor banjo. The more I hear the ways they were played, the more curious I get.
I have absolutely no idea how that would work. I've never worked out the streaming thing. And I also have no idea what I would play. I mean, the WFMU crowd probably has two or even three people who might enjoy snarky solo chord-melody…but I am probably over-estimating.
