Good morning! So, Mike, thanks for drilling down on the Lemon Twigs. I’ve sort of resisted them for some reason. I almost grudgingly went down to the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor to see them. On a Monday night no less. I figured I’d stay for a few and had mid level expectations. They hit the stage early and I’ve never seen a more professional start up. They just immediately launched into Golden Years and it was perfect. I was gobsmacked by how great they sounded. Those vocals live are just unreal. Consider me a convert.

I saw Cracker in their infancy at a bar called Winters in San Diego. One of the guitar players was walking on the bar counter. Fineline Entertainment owner promoter that used to do Bad Religion shows in Tijuana was there, he told me these guys are going to be big. It was about late 1990.
Less than $20 I’m sure. Discs were more expensive. Sold it for $500/$600. Never used it on a single recording, for some reason.. fun to fart around on.
It's a small town. I hope she's doing well. Big Wilco fan. I didn't go to that or Rotary Downs either. Weather was great for staying home. New cat got up the courage to sit in my lap.
I preordered the new Slift and Horse Lords and got Slant of Light (a listener's band that Clay played -- really good!) and a bootleg-ish live show from the Girls at the Rat in 1979.
A friend had her Optigan stolen from her car trunk in NYC some years ago on her way to a recording session ... someone must have seen her move it from the backseat to the trunk. Jen was heartbroken.
What a trail of wreckage I've left. Anyway, while we're having this side discussion about New Orleans, I heard a song by "The Revivalists" yesterday (one of them is also in RD) and it was DREADFUL. Fake soul music. I understand they are very popular. In the sphere I live in, most popular things are bad by definition, so I guess that's a comfort.

It's been a long time, but the best oyster po-boy for me is from the Oyster Bar in Grand Central Station, NYC. It was on ciabatta bread, so would probably infuriate a purist.
