Zinn The Mood: Hey Cricket, folks. Up on the roof here in Astoria, alternating sips of wonderfully light green smoothie (mango and spinach make the color) and coffee with chicory, and the Joe Boyd book “And the Roots of Rhythm Remain.” Sunny but very breezy.

NYC these days is a palpably joyful place. It’s not only that the Knicks are champions, though I’m super stoked about that too. Perhaps we’re experiencing also a glimpse into a world that can yet be born, in which fear and anxiety are banished, when the economy willl exist only to ensure that every single person has the basics of food, shelter, access to basic dignity. Mamdanistan will pave the way for folks to begin believing again that a better world is possible.

at 11:30 it's totally light. Around 1 AM it gets slightly dusky, then gets lighter again. I think we're finally off to the lake after my friend cracked open a beer just before I was about to suggest going.
Oh, and so far fewer mosquitos that usual, but I bet that will change. 🪕 ♥ 9:49am

Lovely. We spent the solstice on the Isle of Skye a couple times and once walked back to where we were staying from a dance in the village at about 3:30. Sun dipped down as we walked and rose by the time we got home. I read a newspaper at 4 AM outside just to prove it could be done!   9:50am

My friend gave me the best repellent ever; it's some pine tar mixed with oil and vaseline. It smells like a smoke sauna insteasd of whatever nasty chemicals are in the commercial repellent and seems to really work 🪕 ♥ 9:53am
