Best Foods (formerly Postum Foods) acquired Hellmann's in the 1920s. Because both brands were popular in their respective, separate regions (East vs. West), the company decided not to merge them.

Do you have Prince Albert in a can?
In more recent years, I've been seeing Hellman's for sale out here in the PNW. But for the longest time you could only get it from a friend, who would go east, and bring it back. I had a friend who used to LOVE getting Hellman's, and would ask everyone to bring some back for him.
I'm reminded ... Nancy gave me the book "Grand Forks" for my birthday last year. Walleye pike is on many menus in North Dakota restaurants, but I haven't tried yet
