i was deep into kid a in 2000. it was the first radiohead i ever heard, and i was thoroughly convinced.
back-cataloguing their output only reinforced my feeling that this was one of the most relevant artists in existence at the time, that had the double-edged sword fortune of having a masses-friendly hit song early on.

… by gum, delighted in that ‘life in the theatre’ 🎭 recollection/share! felt that ‘Kid-A’ was a quantum leap forward as well as its companion (in my mind) ‘Amnesiac’ - perhaps still my faves, cause of reminiscing (?!)🙃
don’t recall which came first, seeing Mz Costa perform on late night chat shows, or via MTV or radio 📻… all i do know is that i was immediately bewitched by both her voice, style, power & fabulous presence. I hadn’t known of her until this album (still my fave), yet others are very worthwhile. for me it echo’d another pet fave: Bernadette Cooper’s solo album (after Klymaxx).

Indeed … the 1985 Hal Willner collection was revelatory & assisted with an already curiosity of master Kurt Weill. Won a vinyl copy from Vin Scelsa promo offer on the radio via his ‘idiots delight’ program. Yet I guess this Costello is derived from a later collection (must peruse).

curious, who was providing the “audio narration” - it reminded me of Joe Frank = was that your voice chinn? Did you have knowledge of Joe Frank at that earlier time?
you're probably right about that. (both points)
...i think the beatles just had a different attitude about it than some other artists.
...*they* got sued - both Lennon and Harrison; McCartney certainly could've been, i don't know if he was...but i think they would rather be doing practically anything else than thinking about legal shit!
It was AI, dude! Which I don't use lightly, but was done for effect here...AI talking about itself, 25 years after the original text, when you can barely tell the difference between reality and artifice anymore. "Dark, masculine" audiobook reader from ElevenLabs. (And yes, Joe Frank is a master. He's certainly in the training models...)
i think that's one of those facadebook/tictacky legends!
i don't know Lana Del Rey's music, but if she's at all typical of artist, er, performers of her general age group, she had to have stolen it from *somewhere*! - and i'm all for many contemporary performers getting sued - and getting out of the business!
...according to wikipedia, radiohead did in fact get sued. they admitted to using the melody, as i had thought, and the writers of the air that i breathe were added to creep.
this being the case, it could've been the writers of the air that i breathe that threatened a lawsuit against Lana Del Rey.
but the end result is that nothing happened. no lawsuit; no change to Lana's writing credit.
a cat where i work asks me over and over (3 times, maybe 4) if i know Lingua Ignota, and is repeatedly shocked that i've heard of her! he does this with a few people; and also repeatedly asks if i like certain artists.
...but the way i see it, he's 25 years old, and it is *I* who should be impressed that *he* has heard of Lingua Ignota!
the candle is *almost* moving in time with the music
