BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD
FLYING ON THE GROUND IS WRONG
Hey Snayle and all! Just tuned in in the car! I love this group so much! I have all their CD's! Started getting into them in the late '90's/early 2000's when I lived in SoCal!
9:43pm
OH_I_Will:
We need to hear the new MACCA—Ringo collaboration…his new album is due later this month…PM, that is
My first serious road trip I did in the US circa '89 was with a rental convertible LeSabre in 100°+ Sept weather...in Texas & surrounds. It was a blast!!!
9:46pm

Hi Snayle and all...speaking of getting it on...I'd like to REQUEST Sock It To Me - Baby by Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels from the New Voice mono LP NV 2003...my fave version...:)
The Runaways covered the song in the Detroit arrangement and when I heard it, I thought it was cool that they incorporated the "Raceway Park" riff! At that time I was still unaware of the Detroit track. Perhaps I'll give it a spin next week...Ahahahahahaha!! Racewayyyy Park
BTW...that rental car...back in '89 was a promo at under $59 a week...gas was under $1.50 a gallon & my weekly rate at a well-run, clean Travis Heights motel in Austin ...was $225 a week.
Basically...America felt like "dreamland" compared to the grey of the UK.
But that was then...
I lived in North Hollywood 84 t0 90 something, had room mates till 89ish and 25 bucks a month untill I lost most of them and I had the large room as I found the place. Crazy.
But found Frog and lived there till 92 ish when I met my wife and moved to San Pedro!

Yes...I had been living in London for a while by then...so those fairly regular trips to mostly music spot destinations was such a tonic!
It kind of helped that I had a job at a major airline...(Not in the air) plus lots of euro vacation-time...so it was really a fun couple of decades.

Beantown Doug:
Hi Snayle! Just got home and I'm tuned in.
Would love to live in Germany again….some of the best years of my life…and even better, have some musical introductions I’d probably never ever realized
Do it part time. Don't hold off on those easy-ish to make happen dreams. Assuming you're in a position to do so...career & health wise. I'm certainly glad I never deferred travel & life experiences for some magical "when I retire" endpoint.
I made a playlist I call Beatles For Sale Double EP Plus, includes the 8 originals plus I Feel Fine, I'll Be Back, She's a Woman and this, the only cover from the album that I've kept
They got back together to do the show after the divorce, which wasn't a great idea

Dropping off the chat for a bit as I decamp to a different floor.
Why purchase property?
There's more freedom in renting...or even short term swapping/home exchanges if budgets are very tight.
I've done both...when flexibility is the order of the day...renting isn't at all a bad idea! I way prefer it to being tied down as a homeowner...now that I'm a little older.
But yes, hopefully rent in a nice & safe locale...if possible.
maybe in 2026. We moved to Portland in 1989 and rented. The owner decided to move back and we had to get out. This happened twice so we looked to buy. Back in 1990 they were giving houses away for very little. It's crazy now, though.

I'm a "Van Winkle" gal because I had an icy slip head injury a few years ago...I could only laugh at how inefficient my wobbly brain was compared to before, especially in the first 2 or 3 years afterwards. But like most things in life...one eventually adjusts one's ways & priorities. It sure did for me!
Our great used book store has roof issues, wishing them well. WOW Snayle, May I guess that you are closer to my age? You are listening to songs that are glued to my Soul. You have just amazed me.

Eric R @10:27
Agree...there is risk when renting from a homeowner who might sell or want to move back. When I was looking for my current place I would only consider "purpose built" rental buildings...for that reason. I hate moving home more than necessary. It's such a hassle...in more ways than one.
♥

Hope everyone has seen the Summer of Soul movie. The 5th Dimension were killer!!

Snayle, you are the best! Thank you so much for playing my request! It made my night! I got another one for ya! BORN UNDER A BAD SIGN by Cream! How about that for next week? Peace and Love!
My concern are the corporate ownership models that are sweeping up all the smaller & less than modernized places...then acting in lockstep on raising rents to levels that almost guarantee no savings left for future home ownership...for just so many... actually almost everywhere...in recent years. It's not fair or sustainable...

Dark humor, but when I heard the news, I wondered if SNL would give her a tribute card tonight. I think she was the focus of their most controversial sketch in the early days.
