Eric Roger's mass for the dead
After his musical setting of "Aucassin et Nicolette", a classic work of French literature dating back to 1225, Eric Roger's new album "Requiem" is a purely personal work. As the title suggests, it is a mass for the dead in the traditional meaning of the word. It is dedicated to those of Eric's friends and relatives who passed away in the last three years, thus presenting a subject matter that couldn't be of a more intimate nature. In accordance with this conceptional framework, "Requiem" comes across as a very sacral piece of work, finding a middle ground between serene devotion and desperate beseeching, but without ever regressing to kitsch or meaningless pathos.

Healing the Wounds of the Land
The Slaying of Qiaddrarth
2021
I had to battle my fear. Then my unwillingness to join the hunters. But seeing the devastation spread by this abomination made me do what I would have done anything to avoid before the attacks, before the fires. We had to enter the lair of Qiaddrarth and rid the world of this plague. Killing a dragon is only possible when the beast is asleep, so we had to move quickly while he was exhausted from the last raid. If we succeeded, we would still face the catastrophic consequences of his attacks. Rebuilding the land will take years. But we will do it, if only to honour all those who died. The wounds will take a long time to heal, but they will. They have to.

Songs 1. - 4. on the A Side are by KletTermax, the B Side with track 5. - 9. by Radagast. The album was released on tape by Personaluschirecords.

This album is a collection of songs that came together as I attempted to try new things and push myself beyond my comfort zone. What began as trying out some new VSTs and my new Kontroll M32 became a full-fledged, full-length release. Despite the experimentation and branching into new styles, I hope that the dungeon synth origins are still found buried in layers of ritualistic, pagan-inspired nature worship. Each track features unique album artwork from old paintings or photographs I took myself. I have also used field recordings from the National Park Service that are far superior in quality and fidelity than any I have recorded myself.
I hope you will enjoy this ode to the natural world - a world that may not long exist if things continue the way they are going. If you buy this album and share a love for nature, please consider also donating your time and money to causes and organizations that can help undo the massive damage we have already done. Beyond telling people to recycle and building sustainable mass transit and finding energy from renewable sources, we need to dismantle the capitalist mode of production which will always place the value of profit over the environment. We cannot entrepreneur ourselves out of this crisis. Better things are possible and worth fighting for. Thanks for reading and thanks for listening.

Labyrinthine

"Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward towards the light; but the laden traveler may never reach the end of it."
Based entirely on the second Earthsea book, The Tombs of Atuan, "Labyrinthine" explores themes of freedom, responsibility, autonomy, and liberation. Tackling the themes of The Tombs of Atuan was a bit of an intimidating process for me. I knew I had to explore this aspect of Earthsea at some point and, for those of you who have read Earthsea, you know how much Atuan stands out from much of the rest of the books. The darker tone, the dread, the melancholy, the isolation, is all so different from other aspects of Earthsea in its adventurous yet, at times, somber nature.
Yet the journey of Tenar is something I come back to a lot, especially as an adult. The ideas of being pushed into a world and told exactly who you are and what the world is--to be told to not question, but to accept this world--this is all something that many of us can connect to, I imagine. And breaking free from that is a terrifying, yet a cathartic and, oftentimes necessary, part of growth as a human being.
There is much to say, but perhaps I will let the music guide you and speak to you in its own magical way. Thank you all for caring. Fogweaver, in many ways, is my werelight in the darkness of the world, and it means the world to me that people connect to it.

Lo-Fi Dungeon Synth based around my love for Fantasy novels, DnD, video games, and everything in between. It would be a dream if groups ended up using this music for their sessions or just as atmosphere while reading a fantasy book.
This album is best enjoyed in a moodily lit room with maybe a crackling fire and the entrancing pitter patter of rain outside - while you're trying to roll a Natural 20.
