There is a cultural and historical link between Hawaii and Japan. Perhaps that is why Hawaiian music and ukuleles are loved in Japan. Many Hawaiians have Japanese ancestry such as ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro. ♥ 3:29pm

Mr. Oxford: If anyone is interested in a blend of traditional Hawaiian music, surf and reggae, check out the guitar & ukulele duo Ka'au Crater Boys from the 90s. They had great songs like "Tropical Hawaiian Day", "Surf", "Wahine ʻIlikea" (cover of a traditional Hawaiian song).

Sadly one of the members died while tragically while surfing in 2016.
