They'll show up and go to the feeders even if empty. They nest in a pine tree behind my home so once I see them I'll put the sugar water out.
There was time I had about 6 here. Fed them out of the palm of my hand.Last year only 3.
One part sugar to four parts water...no dyes no additives. Boil water first, add sugar, boil for two minutes dissolving sugar completely, cool. Refrigerate the extra (usually do 4 cups water / 1 cup sugar)

well, this is embarassing. my parents' home is up for sale (and i'm written out of the will). so, like when i was a teenager, i jumped on the a/c to the fence, to the first story roof. and tried to jump to the 2nd story balcony. well, i'm not as limber as i was as a teen, and fell 25 feet/6m onto the soft rain saturated grass. i mastered the art of fall, but damn, it still hurt (left side is on contused and bruised)(stuck in a hotel outside my childhood home. father was daft enough to have a stroke two days before i got here, and now is in a retirement home.)(second attempt was successful, i got family pics and yearbooks)

I usually hang them empty right now in case of an early arrival. Still a bit too cold here (mornings in the 30's.They'll show up and go to the feeders even if empty. They nest in a pine tree behind my home so once I see them I'll put the sugar water out.
There was time I had about 6 here. Fed them out of the palm of my hand.Last year only 3.
One part sugar to four parts water...no dyes no additives. Boil water first, add sugar, boil for two minutes dissolving sugar completely, cool. Refrigerate the extra (usually do 4 cups water / 1 cup sugar)

northguineahills: well, this is embarassing. my parents' home is up for sale (and i'm written out of the will). so, like when i was a teenager, i jumped on the a/c to the fence, to the first story roof. and tried to jump to the 2nd story balcony. well, i'm not as limber as i was as a teen, and fell 25 feet/6m onto the soft rain saturated grass. i mastered the art of fall, but damn, it still hurt (left side is on contused and bruised)(stuck in a hotel outside my childhood home. father was daft enough to have a stroke two days before i got here, and now is in a retirement home.)(second attempt was successful, i got family pics and yearbooks)
