Pedal steel (as opposed to lap steel) is possibly one of the trickiest instruments to learn ..so I give kudos to any guitarists who put in the time to get a handle on it...

I'm reminiscing over a very dear Austinite (originally a Londoner) - Steve England (was even in the Flowers of Romance in the earliest of punk days). He fell hard for pedal steel. & really thrived while in Texas. Sadly now passed.

Also thinking of Austinite Steve Dean...renowned for really pulling together so many aspects of the Austin scene for decades. He wrote a great book on Texas Dancehalls...before his early passing in recent years.

Pedal steel can fuel those "tear in your beer" thoughts/sentiments/memories.
