I just discovered that Woody Herman had some low charting singles in the mid-'50s. I had never really thought about where we went after the Jazz Age died down, but apparently he was still active in the '80s, sadly due to tax issues.
That may be an interesting idea for a show now that I think about it, exploring how the jazz giants kept things going in the rock n roll era. MHLee did a bit of that in a Jokejoint Gold episode with some '60s songs from early rock artists.

The Wind and the Rain by George and Gerry Armstrong (1961) is the only version I could find with the weather title within time frame, lot's of version secondhandsongs.com...
