1972 was when I read about the first version of the Internet, called the Arpanet. Swapping of digital music files was predicted, with the comment, "So much for record stores, in their present form."
Dang, I had no idea. I thought it was Al Gore 😂😂😂 but really - I didn't know that.

Listener Gregory:
Kim, I was recently at a concert by Cameron Brown, who reminisced about his decade in the Adams-Pullen band. It was quite interesting, but sad: He was the only band member to make it past his 50s.
"ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), created in 1969 by the U.S. Department of Defense, was the world’s first operational packet-switching network and the precursor to the modern internet. Its purpose was to enable resource sharing among geographically dispersed researchers and create robust communication, ultimately transitioning to TCP/IP before being decommissioned in 1990."
The Apranet had online chat and even some gaming. The AP wire service was interfaced on the network. And, yes, there were hackers. On a network with, at the time, forty nodes.

It was 32 degrees last night! It's the third week of April, and the heat's running! Heat that's running on home heating oil that now costs $6/gallon.
It's cold down here at the Gulf Coast. I put our winter Blankets up. Diane swiped my facorite Aldi $14 Comforter ... :) Thank Goodness for my cats that snuggle around me!
I love this Soft Machine album so much... I'm gonna play one from it tonight, too!

Until Kim said the title, I hadn’t recognized that “The Soft Weed Factor” must be an allusion to the John Barth book, “The Sot-Weed Factor” (which is an excellent novel).

appreciate that, Doug. So what do Bostonians do on Patriot Day? Do the OGs whip out some frosty wigs or maybe whigs?Kim Sorise: actually whigs would have been too late - right?
Yes -memory serves - the Whigs gave us the much need anti- King Andrew rhetoric - not dissimilar from the current state of affairs
