I didn't know that at all!
"The song is said to be about Hunter's relationship with his father.[3] A repeated line in the song is "We're just ships that pass in the night."
Huh
"the reason that Manilow selected this song to record. His father had been absent from his life since the age of two. Following a concert 30 years later in 1975, Manilow was changing clothes in his dressing room. An unknown man entered his room, telling him simply, "I'm your father. I enjoyed the concert and would like to see you again." He then left."

My Dad did not aprorove of me listening to Ian Hunter and most rock n roll. He divorced when i was 14. He was never ill and was going to live to 120. He could not understand my severe ME/cfs. He called from Equador when he turned 65 saying he was going to heal our relationship. He died of a stroke a week later before getting together with me. I miss him and what he could have shared with me.

"Probably 15 years ago my sister got a flat in pretty rural part of northern NJ. Called a tow truck and a cop pulled up to assist. They find a caltrop in her tire. The cop says there have been a bunch of similiar reports and are investigating it. Super wierd and very concerning, like who is doing this and why. Fast forward like a year or more later, it was still going on. They finally catch the guy. He was targeting the local farmers. He was angry at them because he offered several of them money to have sex with their farm animals and they all declined and told him to gtfoh."

Well from my perspective, you ended up doing them in the right order of importance. Most people (i.e., of sufficient mental stability) should trip at least once, pot is just fun until it isn't, and alcohol is what it is and best avoided for health reasons (which is hypocritical of me to even type TBH).
