Hi Snayle!
I caught up on my missed 2nd hour from last week's show in the archives. It was great. You'll be my soundtrack on transit this evening on my way to a show.
2 of my cats are on the bed, I need to get the one that was dropped off around our place in, and Princess Lucy Squeek is as usual Not impressed what ever intrests me at the moment, to your upcoming show. LOL Cats!
Snayle...I have a question....
What's with the popularity of the word "akimbo" of late...
I've run into that word several times recently...but not very often in the past. Just curious.
per googs
"Akimbo" is a moderately popular, descriptive word in English, largely known for the phrase "arms akimbo" (hands on hips, elbows out). While sometimes considered old-fashioned, it remains common in literature, photography, and to describe confident, arrogant, or aggressive body language. Its usage extends to describing limbs generally askew, and in modern gaming culture, it signifies dual-wielding weapons.
widely popularized by gaming, particularly the Call of Duty series, where "Akimbo" is a perk allowing players to dual-wield weapons.
I probably shouldn't tell you this, but foot-in-mouth is one of my superpowers. My auntie occasionally used the phrase "bimbo akimbo" to describe floppy-drunk women. I've extended that to "himbo akimbo" in recent years.

I cannot vouch for the veracity of this, but I've been told by a couple sources that it was the BBC that nixed "coca cola" in Lola, citing product placement rules
per wiki
On 18 November 1970, "Lola" was banned from being played by several radio stations in Australia because of its "controversial subject matter", though some began playing "Lola" again after having made a crude edit, which sounded like the record had jumped a groove, to remove the line "I'm glad I'm a man and so's Lola".
The BBC banned the track for a different reason: the original stereo recording had the words "Coca-Cola" in the lyrics, but because of BBC Radio's policy against product placement, Ray Davies was forced to make a 6,000-mile (9,700 km) round-trip flight from New York to London and back on 3 June 1970, interrupting the band's American tour, to change those words to the generic "cherry cola" for the single release, which is included on various compilation albums as well.
I worked at the wea Warehouse that Herb Albert owned the land it was built on, I was hired after groundbreaking but the older guys and girls were invited and everyone I met later said he was wonderful! I wish I had met him. Oh well some great AM singles / lps out there!
I have only ever heard good things about Herb as well. A copy of Whipped Cream & Other Delights was in almost everyone's household as I recall. Kind of like Bat Out Of Hell...but for the 60s.

I have only ever heard good things about Herb as well. A copy of Whipped Cream & Other Delights was in almost everyone's household as I recall. Kind of like Bat Out Of Hell...but for the 60s.;-)
My younger brother had one of the biggest thrills of his life when the original lady...on the cover...was in Vancouver & stopped by his shop. She was apparently really nice & gladly signed a copy, guaranteeing he'll be holding on to that vinyl for life!
