For the first time on WFMU, the cassette mix of The Unicorn! Includes added drum machine and slightly different quality. Thanks Bob Koenig for lending me this tape.
The alternate mixes on the cassette version of the album are not too dramatic, some songs sound basically the same. aside from added drum machine there's some extra effects like wahwah and stuff
Bob was just as surprised as me to find out the tape version was a different mix. He had a CD copy of the Unicorn reissue, so he never listened to the tape peter gave him.
I am doing my best to find and collect whatever info I can on his life.
By the 2010s he was recording songs on "video films" according to comment he made on facebook. I wanna know what's on those videos (peter was known to carry a camcorder)
There is an album I don't have called Spirituals and Hillbilly Gospel. I believe Irwin may have a copy - he also may have more. In the 2000s he played an updated mix of Peter's song "Nothing". Irwin noted that the CDR specified it was the "improved mix" despite there not being drastically different
Another huge source of loss media in myspace. I can't tell you how many songs only existed on it and were lost in the server migration... entire discographys.
The woman who recorded that is still alive. I got an e-mail from a DJ who said she stopped by to ask if they had a copy of her record as she recorded it there.
Listener comments!
