There was one show here, I'm pretty sure it was Larry Grogan's "Testify," where he was playing a lounge/adult contemporary singer's cover of "I Can See For Miles" from around the early '70s, and the contrast between the competent professionalism of the performance and how completly the cover was missing everything good about the original song was certainly something to witness.
Like it's technically a boring cover, but it's actually kind of impressive in its dullness. Grogan said something afterwards along the lines of he would never deliberately play bad music, but he felt he needed to show this one to people.
I read a review that posited that the Beverley Hillbillies, the Addams Family, and the Brady Bunch would all have gotten along just fine. They all had the same worldview of family/kindness/loyalty, plus they all saw themselves as the normal ones. 🙂
I think Scrubs plays into it. But essentially there is this kid named Tommy who its is believed dreamed the entire series St Elswhere. From there it is posited that most TV shows are all a dream of this kid due to how many characters crossover with each other
Found it, it's Frankie Randall's cover. I checked to see if it was bad as I remember, and I would say it is to The Who what Pat Boone was to Fats Domino. (Apparently some easy listening fans dig it though. Make of that what you will.)
