Hello, A2B! IIRC it was the summer of 1980. Because I worked for Westchester County, they were exempt from paying the minimum wage which was about $3 an hour. I made two dollars and change per hour.

My family went to Palisades Park back in 1970 (iirc) when the park had seen better days. It still seemed like a fun place to spend the weekend back then. Little did we know that it would shut down within a few years.

Hi all. It's a blast hearing the old Palisades Park song which is burnt into my memory. Although it's a pleasant memory I associate it with an unpleasant one—the Little Miss America song. Palisades Park hosted the Little Miss America contest, which relatives liked to threaten me and my sisters with by saying they would enter us.
I went there once with some co-workers when I worked at a pizza joint around the late 80's. I don't hesitate to tell you I was a bit on edge about going down those flumes. But I was eager for some thrills, so I took it with courage and enjoyed it!
Used to see him a lot at the Record Fairs 20+ years ago.

Also remember the one time we were at Asbury Park's famous arcade with the city's mascot Tillie on the front of the building. the carousel was still running, and we got in some rounds of Skee-Ball. Good times there as well!

This segment remonds me of this incredible book I have with interviews of former Vaudeville and Burlesque perfomers living in shabby Times Sq. hotels in the 70s before it was all redeveloped. "We Can Still Hear Them Clapping"
It actually looks pretty funny. There's a problem with long form WB cartoons - they really fit in that short time slot , it's hard to come up with plots and subplots that work. The Day The Earth Blew Up has a kind of problem with that, although it had a good look.
