back in the early 80s = first few spins of this Carla ‘social studies’ album = I was underwhelmed by its “smoothness & normalness”, yet with time I kept revisiting it & came to appreciate for those aspects. Still most love some of her earlier grandeur projects & or humorous motifs & aspects = yet everything has its place. Wish I had purchased all of em back then. I particularly adore her soundtrack to Mortelle Randonnée (Extraits de la Bande Originale Du Film, Mercury, 1983). & the charming quirks of “I Hate to Sing” album (1984?). Cheerio 👏🥳👏

Indeed! & a Fantastic quirky lil gem album that also took me several spins to realize just how clever & tongue-in-cheeks the motifs were !

Jason where do you stand on the claim that the Robert Johnson recordings were pressed 20% too fast? So the canonic recordings are all slightly sharp?
I am but a mere drummer, not a guitarist, so I don't have a strong opinion on that one. I have heard him slowed down a bit and he sounds great either way to me!

As we just had RJ’s grandson “preaching the blues” at us near hear via a Dartmouth celebration of the film & legacy of “Sinners”. He’s a preacher & it oozed into everything. Unfortunately to thine ears, standard blues band vibes. Not the legacy vibe I was hoping to hear. Oh well 🤷♂️.
