Lawrence is a cool town. I saw The Residents there on the 13th Anniversary tour. I lived in Wichita and drove to Lawrence and KC many times in the it's to see bands and buy books and records. Wichita had a small cool scene but was also a conservative wasteland.
The Embarrassment = gots ta be one of THE most significant exports from Wichita Kansas. So freakin’ stellar! Were you (old enough) able to catch them live?

Tim in Seattle:
That street was all industrial when I lived in Wichita. They ,just have torn down cheap housing to build warehouses so the guys trashed the place. That would have been a killer party!
