The Ramones never had a top 40 on the Hot 100 or the Billboard 200 album chart. Their debut album is their only studio LP to be RIAA certified (although they do have two Gold certified greatest hits albums.)
More bizarrely, the Ramones did have a top 10 single in the UK... with "Baby, I Love You."
Awesome! Yeah, they're the coolest. Gotta have Kid sign my copy of his book.

I Wanna Be Sedated almost feels like it was a hit. It was featured prominently in the attempted newwavesploitation movie Times Square and a bunch of other stuff
They did have quite a few hits on alternative/college radio, but that was back when alternative radio was truly the alternative.

When Elvis Costello did his notorious SNL performance, it was because Sex Pistols had been booked and their paperwork got screwed up so they couldn't be there. Before Costello, The Ramones were offered the spot and turned it down flat, "we're nobody's second choice"
