Never much followed Soupy...was maybe a little young...BUT I did catch his two sons who were in Iggy's band for his Idiot tour (along w/ sidekick Bowie on keys) in spring of '77. That was quite some show...with under 300 in the arena I should think...
Little known band "Blondie" were the opener.
Being a broke teen...I won my tickets from the radio...of course!
A life-changing concert...most definitely!

I'm not overly familiar with the whole ratfink phenomenon...I always thought it was loosely associated with the Mad Magazine era...which was my older brother's fave media source...
Part of the entire 70s (for my age group) I was always amazed with the older takes on the 60s issues like the James Bond stuff. But over time I cared more about Fat Freddy's Cat.

Well... growing up in Montreal, we probably only had one version on AM radio.
However...our elementary school gym teacher was a body builder French Canadian fella...& for extra income on the weekends / over summers in the peak batman years...he was hired by malls etc to don the batman suit & do tons of meet & greets...because he looked great in the suit...& could speak to all the children in both French & English! What a "side hustle"!!!

Our family moved to the "wet Coast" in '73...so definitely have extremely fond childhood memories of growing up in what was an enormously fashionable & modern city...by N.American standards... especially as it had hosted the world's fair in 1967. It's still a cool town...if a bit "faded" as Toronto is now the largest city.

Fortunately the CBC was pretty good for showing kids shows of that nature when I was young ...
Of course when Sesame Street came along that really changed up everything as concerns kids television.
Sesame Street in the end of the 60s ruled. I was kept (mom and Dad worked) but watched as me and my friend Juri Koll got ready to go to school across the street - Newhall.

Never much followed Soupy...was maybe a little young...BUT I did catch his two sons who were in Iggy's band for his Idiot tour (along w/ sidekick Bowie on keys) in spring of '77. That was quite some show...with under 300 in the arena I should think...Little known band "Blondie" were the opener.
Being a broke teen...I won my tickets from the radio...of course!

Well... growing up in Montreal, we probably only had one version on AM radio.However...our elementary school gym teacher was a body builder French Canadian fella...& for extra income on the weekends / over summers in the peak batman years...he was hired by malls etc to don the batman suit & do tons of meet & greets...because he looked great in the suit...& could speak to all the children in both French & English! What a "side hustle"!!!

It's still a cool town...if a bit "faded" as Toronto is now the largest city.
