The First To Come In
2024
The First To Come In, the debut album of Leeds based Doom Folk band Wire Worms, is inspired by the traditions of Mumming and Guising found throughout the British Isles. In celebration of these disconcerting and alluring performances, the album commences with a knock at the door and ends with a bittersweet farewell.
The origin of Mummers Plays’, as with most folk customs are disputed; and explanations fall somewhere between the poles of the magical and the materialist. Perhaps the Mummers are a vestige of practical magic, an end of winter ceremony to usher in the Spring. Or simply a means for people to earn money through performative labour while work is short and fields are barren. Perhaps they are something in-between and altogether unexpected.
Our play begins in the depths of winter and a parade of figures and guises - from the leather-bound Slasher, to palliative ponies and mournful masters - shall pass us by as we edge ever closer to the brightness and promise of Spring; and align more closely to the soundscape of the pubs and clubs where these organic performances are now contained.
We seek to celebrate the Mummers’ in a manner that is neither museal nor irreverent, a way that strikes a line between traditional music and contemporary “folk” musical practices; of dance, black metal, and industrial music.

“Greet” is the new dark folk solo project from Matthew Broadley, the former drummer of Black Metal band Dawn Ray’d. Harmonium driven drones and textures combined with wonky melodies. 4 Odes to winter, nature, the drudgery of work and beer. A labour of love and fear, of hope and anxiety, of joy and hate. If you imagine Neil Young crossed with The Wicker Man then you’ll be some of the way there

Dearest friends and enemies,
We present to you a new collection of songs to energize the mind and hopefully enflame the spirit with the desire to keep pushing forward. The old world is being tested by the new, but the form of our future is still ambiguous. It is being molded by all of us, by our inaction and action alike. Across the planet there is a great push from the forces of reaction who seek to annihilate for the sake of their pitiful obsession with power and control. They function out of one instinct only, fear. Fear of a different world, fear of actual creativity, fear of something beyond their narrow-minded understanding of life, a fear of living. A fear of change.
Unlike us, they must rely on institutions of authority to justify their violence. Unlike us, they cower behind fortified structures of power. Unlike us, they fight for slop and crumbs given to them by their masters. They will never understand the beauty with which we stand before their behemoth. They cannot imagine strength without the baton placed in their hands.
This compilation is dedicated to Tortuguita, who was murdered by cowards in uniforms whilst defending the Weelaunee Forest. They lived and fought with joy in their heart, and they continue to live in the spirit of resistance in the forest. This compilation is also dedicated to all who live in the struggle against that encroaching authoritarianism that seeks to cast the world into greater despair, to all who have fallen in this cause, to all who stand firm against state repression and violence, to those who carry the torchlight of liberty and to those who wield the hammer with which to strike the chains of control.
We would like to thank all who have contributed their workings to this compilation, and to all who continue to dance alongside us through these times of great disruption. There is a world of possibilities, an entire world to create, a reality to bend, but it begins with you. It begins with your desire and joy, and anger.
The money raised by this compilation will be donated to the Atlanta Solidarity Fund via the National Bail Fund Network to assist in the continued efforts against the proliferation of Cop City. They have done everything in their power to paint the movement in the most negative light, but the people of Atlanta and beyond know better. We believe that they understand that “the assumption that what currently exists must necessarily exist is the acid that corrodes all visionary thinking.”

Hereford Wakes End Titles
Hereford Wakes
2016
A five-part ITV children’s drama originally transmitted over the summer of 1972 and produced by Harlech Television based in Wales.
Set in a village outside Hereford the story follows the preparations for the annual Wakes event but dark forces are unleashed when the organisers decide to build a ‘Witch’s Hat’ ride on an ancient burial mound.
Roy Kinnear plays Mayor Hamilton who wants the Wakes event to go ahead in spite of warnings from local newspaper reporter Jane Meadows (Elisabeth Sladen). Also attempting to avert disaster are young white witch Heddwen (Camila Vargas) and visiting archaeologist Robbie Duggan (Iain Tranter).
The series' obscurity is explained by the fact that a Welsh Nationalist transmission engineer deliberately confined the broadcast of the programme to Wales, failing to perform the switch required and thus enabling the Welsh language programme ‘Ffalabalam’ to be shown on the nationwide ITV network whilst ‘Hereford Wakes’ was shown only in Wales.
A combination of luck and coincidence led to us being able to contact a relative of the composer and so we're delighted to present the music from Hereford Wakes for the first time.

Some MIDI was sourced from Classical Guitar MIDI (www.classicalguitarmidi.com/index.html). Other MIDIs I had to find elsewhere. They don't always sound like a real performance, but I think that's part of the charm.

An idyllic dungeon synth masterpiece. Follow the tale of Jamwine the not-so-brave Hobbit on his misadventures through the Shire and beyond.
Since its release, flies the coop has become a noteworthy staple of dungeon synth. Nostalgic melodies wrapped in warm and fuzzy production.

Minas Morgul
1995
By fans often called the "real" debut-album by austrian legends Summoning.
Back then this album was a surprise for every listener, who expected the same approach like on "Lugburz".
Compared to the raw nordic black metal the band is celebrating there, it is a totally new band presented on "Minas Morgul".
The two main things that yet remained the same are the Lyrics based on writings by J. R. R. Tolkien and Silenius' extreme black metal shrieking.
This album will enchant you and take you into the deepest dungeons of Minas Morgul, where all hope is lost.

Dark&Depth Records is pleased to announce the next NOCTURNAL MYST album entitled "For Victory and Conquest" an Old Dungeon Synth Lo-Fi Medieval album all Improvised and recorded Live for a Dark Dungeon sound, for fans of the rougher genre . It will be available in digital format, but the great news of this album is that for the first time Dark&Depth Records announces its first physical CD-R format in DVD case in a self-produced edition, very limited to just 10 copies. The CD is totally independent, reflecting Lo-Fi in every way. A physical version not for profit, but simply a small gift to those who want to support and grow Dark&Depth Records.

LEFT/FOLK IX: Days Ov Fire

2026
Dearest friends and enemies,
We would like to start by thanking everybody who made this compilation possible, and to all who have lent their support in this endeavor. We are grateful for your participation, your patience, and your passion for the continuation of our movement. We feel very fortunate to continue to see this grow, even after nearly a year with little to no movement from our end, it has been a treat to watch new artists take up the mission and for existing artists to keep developing their own work.
As stated above, it has been a long time since we’ve been here. So, welcome back. We hope you enjoy this new collection of works: some new, some old, some exclusive to this release. This time around, we expanded the criteria to include works from fellow travelers who may not necessarily be what you would expect from our compilations, and to build on the already eclectic catalog of music that exists in the same atmosphere we seek to cultivate. You will also receive some texts that we feel are relevant to the moment, as well as a small collection of visuals to meditate on. Let these images operate as a focal point for reflection and self-communication.
Now is the time to expand our connections to one another in Real Space. We will need it. The world is dark as ever, something I think we all have known for a long time, but the depth of that darkness still lends to some surprises. The regime we live under here in the US seeks to subsume the entire world under the violence of our decrepit wannabe king, in the name of endless profit and power. Spilling violence across the planet, slaughtering children on the altar of capital and American hegemony.
Here, at the heart of empire, the threat only increases as the administration grows more desperate to maintain control. We are seeing minds change in real time, and with change comes action in some way or another. Currently there are thousands of people who have been kidnapped and concentrated into camps where sickness and abuse run rampant. It is maddening to see people continue as if this is not the case, to know that just beyond our city limits, atrocities are unfolding.
An almost greater threat, however, is the one that festers beneath the surface. The growing miasma of numbness, of normalcy, acceptance. The noxious poison of apathy. Surely, some of you are exhausted by the World As It Is currently, you can feel yourself wavering and wanting to slide into some form of comfort One could not blame you, as the information economy continuously attacks your senses, attempting to drown you in an endless cycle of inhumanity. The powers-that-be want to wear you down, they want to annihilate any notion of hope, to stifle any notion that you could do anything about anything...
Now more than ever, we call on you to have not only a plan, but a purpose. Ask yourself, who are you really? What is your place in the moment? In this piece of history? Now think beyond it. Imagine yourself in the fallout of the imploding World As It Is. Do you focus solely on survival? Do you build something new? What brave new world exists in your heart? Do you fear ruins? Left/Folk is not just neofolk nor apocalyptic folk, left/folk should also be seen as post-apocalyptic folk. A soundtrack to possibility, a soundtrack to the drive towards something else. Music for after, music for a world that is becoming, be it charred or be it greener.
Until that moment, we invite you to sit with us in these Days Ov Fire, to sharpen your tools, to maintain your machinery, to plot your victory, to build your community, to seek within, to set your path, to continue building the fire. Let this inspire.Enjoy. |

All proceeds from this compilation will be donated to the National Bail Fund Network in an effort to continue supporting individuals and families affected by the ongoing deportation and internment campaign being carried out by the regime, whether they are people awaiting trial for the crime of protesting against inhumane policies or folks currently being held in detention centers. The National Bail Fund Network is a coalition of over 80 separate community bail and bond funds organized by the Community Justice Exchange.

Faces in the Mountain
2019
he third release and second full-length from woodsdwelling minimalist NIBELUNG. “Faces In The Mountain” tells an obscure tale of a lost veil-wanderer in the form of a concept double album, totaling in nearly two hours of stark, cold ambient epochs. These tapes had been ready for some time now, but were waiting on the onset of a deep Northwest winter, in which the artist felt it would be best to present the material. May this straunge, slow music keep you company as you tread wintry hills and fields on cold, lonely nights. When the first of spring begin to bloom, keep this relic in a safe, quiet place until snow begins to fall again. Intended for meditative listening only.
"Walking around in the woods or in the mountains is better, especially at nighttime. Letting the trees and the peaks loom over you and feeling the cold wind move around. You begin to feel awfully small out there. And it is best to let your feet show you where to walk."

The Battles We've Fought And The Love We've Lost
2026
This is a collection of old and new songs, starting with the newest recitations (chronological order on physical release). Some of the old material has been re-recorded and re-mixed and all songs have been re-mastered. Follow along as our Hero faces their Quests.
The battles have been fought. Not all of them have been won. Looking back on their journey our Hero remembers all their mistakes, their losses, their victories, their grief.
The last rays of the setting sun color castle Rabenstein a deep glowing red. Only a valley and a final descend up a hill lie between the Hero and the castle, their final destination. Reminiscing on their journey, our Hero picks up their lyre and plays a note for every face they've come across, and for every story they've heard. We are not our destination, we are not our goals, we are the road and the journey that leads us to whatever fate is ours.
