Good eve, David. I hope there are no wrestling emergencies this week, but who can say?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm
Barno in Akron: Word to your mothers!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
Austin Rich: Zips were still cool. But I wanted Adidas, too.

Instead, I had some Chuck Taylor knock offs, that wore out in weeks.

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
David The Splatter: I got whatever K-Mart had on sale and that was that. My parents knew early that I was hard on my shoes.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
Austin Rich: True story: I know a guy who did a version of this story, where he took his Dad's very-fancy car while the father was out of town, and on the way home, he hit a deer with the car. The car was all messed up, there was no way to avoid it. I can't recall how the punishment worked out, but I do remember that his Dad didn't talk to him for quite a while afterwards.

↳ Song: "Number Three" by "They Might Be Giants"

I've never been able to place that sample used for the transition. Anyone know?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
David The Splatter:

↳ Austin Rich @8:07

Ooof... At least it was a deer and NOT a pedestrian.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Song: "Parents Just Don't Understand" by "DJ Jazzy Jeff ...

I always loved when Jeff would guest on "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," and he looked like he did NOT want to be on TV at the moment. That was always fun.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:15pm
Austin Rich: I brought up the shoes because of the the Fresh Prince line about getting Zips instead of Adidas.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Song: "Lydia, The Tattooed Lady" by "The Dead Milkmen"

The Groucho Marx version of this song is one of the greatest artistic achievements of the 20th Century.

That's true! I almost did a Hitch-hiker's show today, but I did one not long ago. Next time...

Perhaps it's a tie with, "Little Egypt," by The Coasters, another one of the best moments in all of 20th Century art.

↳ Song: "Drinking in L.A." by "Bran Van 3000"

This riff reminds me of another song... that I can't quite place...

Barno in Akron:

That's what I wore, I think they were called Skips, but we called them "KMart Specials" in disapproval. The cool kids wore BKs.. British Knights and Kangaroo's with the sipper on the sides. LOL the 80s were weird
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
Barno in Akron:

↳ Barno in Akron @8:30

Maybe they were called "Traxx?"
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Barno in Akron @8:30

I vaguely remember Traxx.

Traxx was the KMart brand:

TRAXX! Yes.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:39pm
David The Splatter: The kids at my school called them "Bobo Brands".
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
Austin Rich: I don't remember the cool kids wearing BKs... but I do recall they had a pretty big marketing push back in the day. But for me it was still Adidas that all the cool kids wore, that I really wanted. Might have been a regional thing, out on the west coast.

I can't recall anyone wearing BKs, but I remember the commercials.

Roos? Shoes for your feet, pockets for your stuff?

"This shoe pocket can fit SO many pills!"
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
David The Splatter:

↳ David The Splatter @8:51

That's probably why they ran so many commercials on Saturday pro wrestling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
Barno in Akron:

They could fit a bunch of Bang Snaps too - LOL
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
