Oldies re-recordings have always been something I can't stomach. Just the worst on every level, that is until A.I. oldies came into play.

Song:
"Radiation" by "Joe Nathen And The Hornets"
See, something like "Radiation" is the kind of thing I'd work up for outdoor summer shows where you can get all the kids jumping around in front of the bandstand. I guess if we recorded it, that would be a "cover" not a re-recording.
And back in the '50s and early '60s, artists would sometimes issue rerecordings only a few years after the original due to how badly royalties were handled.
I always hated those cheap rerecording compilations that you'd find in stores that would put the disclaimer in pathetically small font.

Listener Bop Monroe:
pretty much the rule is anything you didn't write is a cover.
Speaking of music for the kids, "Golden" from Kpop Demon Hunters got played on WFMU this week (and not in a quirky edited form.) Perhaps all those jokes about it that one Friday willed this into existence.
My parents and grandparents were both caught by those before. The biggest issue wasn't even the performances, but the really cheap, sterile production work so many of them had.
Listener comments!
