By the way, Sheena's Mr Fab often features his field recordings (last week was two songs by Messer Chups from their Alex's Bar show...but more often than not unband related) on his LIVE from Sheena's show wfmu.org...
Pink Ladys are corporate apples! Patented by the University of Washington and not open source. It's a bit of a pet peeve of mine because America has such a deep history of apple varieties that have largely been swallowed up by corporate monoculture, and then these varieties that have been reintroduced are owned by universities and corporations. Eat (and drink!) open source apples I always say!

Hey my portable Zoom recorder is coming tomorrow, so high quality field recordings are coming soon!
Here in Apple growing Mid Hudson Valley there are a few legacy apple varieties. However, we just had a kind of frost after a spate of 80 degree weather so I don't know how the trees are doing.
The deeper I go down this Apple hole the more I see little copyright symbols next to apple names. You have made me see somethign that I have not noticed before

Sometime: an all ASMR show, just so you can sneak in Aubrey Plaza's ASMR.
(right now i have Into the Forest and When the Forest Breathes out from the library)
growing up, there was an apple tree in the front yard -- Macintosh? do not remember for sure, but pretty sure it was pre-corporate/non-gmo . . . but i do remember helping my Mom make apple sauce and other stuff with the apples . . . was there for decades, and do not recall how/why, but eventually She died, Dad had to cut down most of the tree
My mom would put the baked apples thru a ricer for applesauce. The skins would turn it a beautiful red or pink. I have the ricer and i dont know where she got the strength.
WOW i think my Mom had a ricer too? but also another sort-of sieve set up, with a wooden roller thingy (like a rolling pin, but with one end pointed) -- used to mash tomatoes with that too (for the sauce) . . . and YES!!! omg the hues of homemade applesauce! tasted so much better than store-bought too :)
