👋 Hi Julie & Listeners. Was just chatting about Happy Rhodes’ career last night with a store proprietor! This last album is the only one I never found & don’t know the music from 🤷♂️. Wondering why it was much more rare to find than the others. Do you recall why she stopped creating her own solo albums?

Hi Erik! I don't actually know the answer to that. If you're on FB there's a group for her, they may have some answers.

Heya Julie and all you nighty night souls!
There's a particular electronic keyboard sound in this which I like, but I don't know enough to know whether it's a stock sound some particular keyboard well-known to every musician makes, or if it's something people keep having to patch with a synth.
There's something similar in some popular Yaz / Yazoo tracks.

Song:
"Chase Away The Sun" by "The Blessed Isles"
Totally would've taken this lush track for being cut in an earlier decade than this one. Blissful.

Max Gail, Hal Linden and Barbara Barrie are still alive. Three fave Barbara Barrie films:Breaking Away, One Potato Two Potato and the under seen Judy Berlin, also starring Edie Falco, Madeline Kahn and Anne Meara.
You have a rainy afternoon? Lucky you! We have one of those stupid sunny days where it's already a little bit uncomfortably warm, and the threat of full oppressive summer heat looms over us.

Hey Julie ! Im listening while paddling a slightly flooding urban river. It's the n. San Gabriel in Georgetown, just north of Austin for those keeping score. Hi yall ! Im in an untouched shelter cave with 5g and the sounds of the interstate in background. TMI -me

hi miles! how are you getting 5G in a cave I swear Miles you are magic. I can't even get that at my dad's place in center point
i don't really know for sure but the impression i got is that she just got tired of the music industry and what it took to be part of it and decided to bag it for other pursuits.

twistmeyer.bsky:
my favorite Talking Heads cover is Robin Danar's cover of "Life During Wartime.' Edgy and dark, which is saying something given the original.
I'm leaving it in its clear wrap so I only have hints of it, but the monitor it's perched on is pretty warm, so I do get occasional wafts of sweet purply, flowery darkness
