Looks like that goes back to the 60s:

The classic 1960s McDonald's jingle, "McDonald's Is My Kind of Place," is the famous tune adapted from the traditional spiritual "Down by the Riverside." It was famously used in television commercials to promote their hamburgers, fries, and shakes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55am
Jan Turkenburg: Must try to find that one for next episode..   🎸 11:03am
Jay Current: At this rate, I'm convinced Jan could host a fifth show consisting entirely of songs about bodies of water. Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:06am

Krys O.: I was reading that Steve McQueen, the director, was planning a biopic on Paul Robeson since 2014. Fingers crossed he gets to make it. Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am
Jan Turkenburg:

ChristinaInCanada: Some Paderewski recordings and Alfred Cortot would be welcome if you play classical tracks here, Jan Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:35am
David (in London): That death grunt... you're a natural Jan... get thee into a Scandinavian black metal band immediately! Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 11:38am
MHLee: That's pretty hot   🎸 11:39am
Jay Current: I'd be interested in some hearing some classical recordings.

Also, an increasingly large amount of Brill Building style pop is drifting into this show's year range if that's something that interests you.

Jan Turkenburg:

That's certainly territory that I'll be moving into as well Avatar 11:42am
Mr Fab: haha, no, I didn't start this channel to play classical, but I think we can warp and pervert anything if we try hard enough!

nah, don't worry Jan - freeform gonna freeform.

Krys O.: Cloudy or rainy weather meant I didn't have to go outside as a kid. I was bullied by a few neighborhood kids and that caused anxiety. I read lots of books staying indoors. Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am

Mr Fab: Bill Zebub's show focuses on metal, but so much of the stuff he plays actually does sound almost classical - these operatic female singers, and orchestral arrangements. (even if Cookie Monster does drop in sometimes...

And honestly, classical really informs so much of the exotica and EZ stuff we play here. Nelson Riddle, Morricone, etc. Les Baxter basically thought of himself as a modern-day Impressionist a la Ravel
