TL:DR: Breckman was on tour the opening act for McLean and he detailed all these petty, jealous things McLean did to him while on tour, especially after he read a newspaper review of their show and the reviewer gave a lot of praise to Andy. It's hilarious.
The hot air balloon reference involves a Seven Second Delay episode many years ago in which Ken perpetrated a hoax on Andy that Don had perished in a hot air balloon disaster.
Yeah, Parker did sound more so in his post Rumour career. But Parker is the better lyricist. I’m not a Springsteen fan to be honest. In 1975 when he got his photo on the cover of Time following Born to Run, I didn’t get it. I didn’t understand it at all.
I do like Springsteen (But always liked the pre Born to Run albums the most). Saw him on the last tour (not the current one), and a bunch of times way back when. Like Parker too...
I do enjoy a few of his songs for sure. I also like his largesse toward hurting people. He raised big bucks here in Pittsburgh when steelworkers were displaced from their jobs.
And thass a wonderful fact. Another thing I’ve enjoyed is certain candidates appropriating Born in the USA as a jingoistic campaign song - and getting slammed for stupidly misinterpreting it
I’m afraid so. I pine for the days when it was a self affirming hug 😞
