howard hughes was betting BIG on His Kind Of Woman - so big that he took over casting to try to find people that would work well with Jane Russell. he fired the original director and got william wyler to re-shoot several scenes - esp the fight scene on the boat. then, when raymond burr appeared, he re-shot all the scenes the previous villain had already done.
I hope Sissophonic has some exciting special plans 🥂for your birthday today!!

She's famous? She's in my Facebook neighborhood group a lot. That group is mostly about getting the wandering neighborhood dogs back home though. Not really a hotbed of bellydance lore.
Yes, she performed in 40 countries. Her home base was Miami Beach in the 90's+. She taught many students that also became famous, some in NYC. I just found her again and i haven't reached out yet. But i heard she mostly teaches online which is not for me. But she dosen't brag about her international fame.

It was an obscure early 90s Nashville release:
Mike Henderson "Fountain of Youth"...

Satisfaction actually has a guitar mistake in it, but they kept it in. Also, someone talking towards the end which they also left in. I love hearing “human error”in Songs because it gives the song soul!! If I Fell has Paul “cracking” his voice when he hits one of those high notes. George Martin just clipped it off.

They were a 60’s band from Czechoslovakia in the 60’s that I discovered years ago. I was sooo excited that a band was dressed in 60’s clothes and covering this song in the mid 2000’s!!! I looked them up and was disappointed with my discovery of them. They were actually a 60’s band, and in their late 60’s. Their guitarist Rhadim had passed on already.
I see that I’m in a writing “Story Telling Mood!!”🤣🤣
Charlie Blood’s. I have to thank Jonesy and Mark and Mark, Weird NJ guys for turning me on to that restaurant. I don’t take issue with Mr. Spitz’s characterization of Brian Jones as his own worst enemy, but I truly feel like in recent years, Mick and Keith have largely written him out of the band’s history and greatly diminished his role. That film “Crossfire Hurricane” barely mentioned Brian at all — you’d think he was just an incident gal character in the band’s story.

October 15, 1981 The Rolling Stones played King County Stadium starting at 3PM. Thousands skipped school and work causing congestion and disturbances. Suburban fascists were outraged with the recent emergence of Nancy Reagan and demanded a ban on concerts. The solution was any concert in large Seattle venues could not start before 7PM. After that concert tickets said 7:01 PM. I skipped school for that Stones concert and my parents fed me that rough love and Nancy Reagan shit over it.

Agree...the late 70s/early 80s concert "scenes" were most odd & very divided ...

this was right after Brown Sugar had been a massive hit -- 1971, so i was no more than 12 -- and listening to Wild Horses, i was thinking, "i think this is my favorite song!" . . . and all these years later, that has never changed

i had to look her up, but instantly remembered Amar when i saw her picture! such an amazing artist -- i "know" her through Bellyqueen and Bellydance Superstars 💜💜💜
i do not recall if Amar was participating, but Bellyqueen did these performance pieces throughout Manhattan, early 2000s -- "a healing ritual for NYC," or something like that -- so surreal, riding the subways all over the place in-costume -- and i remember giving a family of tourists, first time in NYC, great big "welcome to New York!" hugs 😺😺

for those that did not catch it:howard hughes was betting BIG on His Kind Of Woman - so big that he took over casting to try to find people that would work well with Jane Russell. he fired the original director and got william wyler to re-shoot several scenes - esp the fight scene on the boat. then, when raymond burr appeared, he re-shot all the scenes the previous villain had already done.

regina j: I don’t take issue with Mr.

& Sometimes, when it’s time to go, all yer worldly possessions add up to a few pairs of black pants. A couple of sweaters, two sweater vests, a few white undershirts and some oversized three button polos. A photograph or two, four houseplants and a toothbrush. Thats all.“I am fortunate!”

Bklyn_Dutch: This has been great, Todd. Enjoyed the interview and the playlist.
It's hitting me so hard right now - Stones were always in my young home life with my late father and my big brother both being fanatics. Brings back some fine memories of the 70s and 80s.
Thanks, Todd!

i had to look her up, but instantly remembered Amar when i saw her picture! such an amazing artist -- i "know" her through Bellyqueen and Bellydance Superstars 💜💜💜i do not recall if Amar was participating, but Bellyqueen did these performance pieces throughout Manhattan, early 2000s -- "a healing ritual for NYC," or something like that -- so surreal, riding the subways all over the place in-costume -- and i remember giving a family of tourists, first time in NYC, great big "welcome to New York!" hugs 😺😺
(oof and L'Orange Bleue is gone too -- i miss that place!!!)

Pomegranate Juice is great for the heart!! It prevents strokes. And if you have a stroke, it is the best for recuperating from it.

yes please stay hydrated! and listening to WFMU!!!Van Winkle ;-): The Beatles vs Stones "debate"...which of course is moot...as both can be & are great...is nicely represented in an amusing 2009 tune by Art Brut's Eddie Argos' ..."What A Rush".

Staxx: When I listen to early tunes, I’m always like is this Brian or Keith on lead? I know I can probably figure it out now via internet but listening… can y’all discern? “Guitar weaving” love that. This has been a total blast - thank you!

I agree. If you try to discern who exactly is playing what guitar part on a given track it is difficult. Jones or Richard? They did some fine work together that is for sure.clarke: thank you Sir Todd of Rockinham!
