Asheville Jon: "The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the ramp from I-40 East to Henley Street is back open after bees swarmed the area after a crash on Friday morning.

TDOT spokesperson Mark Nagi said the driver of the truck and the passenger are beekeepers and the truck that crashed was carrying 1 million bees. The beekeepers helped "corral" the insects."

Bees are pretty easy. If you decide you don't want to do it anymore, they are fine, they are used to living without us.
But if you want honey, you have to manage them a bit. Usually just a few hours a month.

There are many beekeepers who do it just to help the bees and provide the home, never take the honey.

I once looked into "how to be a beekeper" and found a "modern hive" company that basically doesn't require disassembling the hive to extract the honey. it's basically on tap like beer at the pub. (ofc I also looked into how to care for the bees and all that). I wish I had a piece of land to do that. There's a nice US southerner beekeper on yt that I used to follow and he's got all sort of info and tips.   10:13am

use roundup is what my landlord always suggests when I talk about caring for the wild crazy over the marsh cliff of wildflower scramble we live with.
I say no way, that's kills the bees and causes cancer
he never responds.
The whole neighborhood wants a flat treeless view to the water.
but we have so many buds too
I have been tending wild stuff they thought was weeds and hand pulling invasive and poison ivy to make a native meadow
I counted no less than 20 differnt bees and insects last sept when the "weeds" flowered into a huge field of native frost asters and evening primrose ♥ 10:40am
