My mother set the house on fire, she was like that
I'll never forget the look on my father's face

Peggy Lee cover, written by Cristina Monet Zilkha, Mike Stoller, Jerry Leiber & Leiber-Stoller.
As he dragged me out of the building and onto the pavement
And I stood there shivering in my pajamas
And watched the whole world go up in flames
And when it was all over, I said to myself
"Is that all there is to a fire?"

I dusted off a little graphic/printout from my archives that I liked to pin up behind my desk when I was still in "worker bee" mode:

"It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice"

I'm going to stand behind that approach over anything the vile tyrannical turnip (& his "team") might be offering/suggesting of late.

Yes that was kind of a turning point and that phrase is really representative of those dreadful Reagan 80s.
Greed and dishonesty, it was sowing those seeds that got us to this fantasy world created by the two above ingredients and a bunch of other jingoistic slogans.
What a pile of horsesh*t.

The real sadness to me is that it's almost considered dumb & foolish... particularly in current times...to reject the "greed is good" or equivalent...$$$ is mostly everything... approach to life...particularly with the ramping up of influencer/ social media culture. I was born in the 60s ...so feel fortunate to have lived in times before "GIG"* & after...so feel somewhat qualified in considering which approach was better.
But...here we find ourselves in 2026.

*GIG...shorthand for greed is good...

Heh...Austin Javakid ...does FlightPath Coffee in North Austin still exist? I remember hanging around there when the old smaller/original airport still operated...and they truly were under the flight path. There used to be lots of great vintage in that area too ..but possibly it's more gentrified of late...   5:34pm

the area around it has some new construction but the gentrified area is the Mueller neighborhood (where the airport had stood).

Thee "Phil"!!!
Am I the only one in the party zone today who actually caught them perform live (as support to early touring Queen) in spring of '77.
I won my tickets off the local radio station as I was a skint teen... Thin Lizzy blew Queen off the stage...IMHO.
