IT之家 (IT Home) May 17 News - According to China Railway official, on the morning of May 14, as the steel truss of the station building roof structure with a total area of 74,000 square meters and a weight of 9,000 tons was vertically lifted 13.5 meters to the designed position, the construction of the Eastern Hub Shanghai East Railway Station station building has officially entered the metal roofing construction phase.

The Eastern Hub Shanghai East Railway Station is a new station on the Taicang to Sitian section of the Shanghai-Nantong Railway. The line starts from Taicang Station in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province in the north, and ends at Sitian Station of Shanghai Pudong Railway in the south, passing through Taicang and the Jiading District, Baoshan District, Pudong New Area, and Fengxian District of Shanghai, with a total length of 111.8 kilometers and a design speed of 200 km/h.

The Eastern Hub Shanghai East Railway Station is adjacent to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, with a station layout of 15 platforms and 30 lines, adopting a three-dimensional layout of "three floors above ground and three floors underground." The distance from the railway exit to the underground aviation module security checkpoint is only a little over 200 meters.

As of now, the Eastern Hub (东方枢纽) Shanghai East Railway Station has completed construction tasks including the track bearing layer, elevated layer, and some bridge piers and bridges in the throat area, accounting for 50.23% of the total construction volume.

Once the project is completed and operational, it will connect with the second phase of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Tongzhou Railway, the newly built Shanghai-Hangzhou High-Speed Railway (沪杭高铁), and other lines, and will achieve rapid interconnection with Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, and Shanghai Pudong International Airport via the airport connection line, helping Shanghai form a pattern of "Hongqiao Hub in the west, Eastern Hub in the east".

According to inquiries from IT之家 (IT Home), the Shanghai East Railway Station is expected to be ready for operation in July 2027.
