IT之家 May 20 news - Xpeng GX flagship SUV officially launched tonight, offering both pure electric and extended-range powertrains, with a price range of 279,800 to 359,800 RMB. Customers who place orders before 24:00 on June 30 can also enjoy a limited-time discount of 10,000 RMB.

The Xpeng GX's exterior design draws inspiration from yachts, featuring dimensions of 5265mm x 1999mm x 1800mm and a wheelbase of 3115mm, equipped with 22-inch ultra-wide staggered tires. It is available in five exterior colors: Everest White, Polar Black, Fjord Gray, Danxia Red, and Cloud Desert Gold, with interior options in Dawn White, Forest Purple, and Platinum Brown.

The body adopts a clamshell hood and integrated clamshell tailgate design, along with hidden water cuts and flush side windows, achieving a drag coefficient as low as 0.255. The front features a 24K space ceramic gold emblem and a million-pixel DLP digital projection headlight, supporting intelligent avoidance and ground projection interaction, as well as four-door power opening and closing.

The XPeng GX is equipped with a 21.4-inch 3K ceiling-mounted screen (with intelligent anti-pinch induction) and a 17.3-inch 120Hz center control screen. It features the industry's first air-cooled frost-free car refrigerator with sterilization function, supporting voice control. It is also equipped with the Lingjing AI Audio Max (聆境 AI 音响 Max) (33 speakers throughout the car), suede headliner, Nappa leather interior, wood grain center console, and three-layer ambient lighting.

In addition, the six AI-dimming privacy windows across the vehicle can change color in 0.16 seconds, balancing privacy and transparency.

The new car adopts a 2+2+2 six-seat layout and is equipped with the industry's only third-row electric three-fold seats (with two zero-gravity seats in the front and middle rows), which can flexibly switch between large four-seat, five-seat, and six-seat modes. The third-row seats support 0-180° adjustment and can be completely folded and stowed into the sunken trunk. When fully loaded with six people, it can still accommodate six 24-inch suitcases. After folding, the expanded volume reaches 1748L. The trunk volume is 673L, and the pure electric version also has a 109L front trunk (frunk).

In terms of intelligence, the Xpeng GX is positioned as China's first pre-installed mass-produced Robotaxi prototype, built entirely to L4 autonomous driving standards. It is equipped with the industry's highest effective computing power of 3000 TOPS and supports the second-generation VLA+VLM large model. It adopts a pure vision solution without LiDAR, while integrating flying car safety redundancy technology and embodied intelligent architecture. It supports automatic emergency braking at 150 km/h and AES at 130 km/h, as well as AES on low-adhesion surfaces such as ice and snow.

The Xpeng GX is also equipped with a driver status monitoring and assistance system. It can not only identify abnormal driver conditions, automatically pull over smoothly and wait for rescue, but also autonomously select emergency parking areas to avoid secondary accidents.

The Xpeng GX's industry-first EIS impedance spectroscopy battery management system can provide timely warnings, monitor charging and discharging safety throughout the process, improve battery estimation accuracy, and maximize prevention of battery safety hazards.

The chassis system of the Xpeng GX adopts native steer-by-wire and rear-wheel active steering technology, giving this 5.2-meter large SUV a turning radius of only 5.4 meters.

Safety performance is a major selling point of the XPeng GX. The new car adopts the industry's largest 16,000-ton front and rear integrated large-scale die-casting, uses aviation-grade six-fold global safety redundancy design, and is equipped with 11 airbags and integrated side curtain airbags.

The XPeng GX focuses on three major safety systems: passive safety, active safety, and aviation-grade redundancy safety. During the on-site test at the launch event, the vehicle completed the industry's first 720° (bottom scrape, front/side/rear collision, and top impact) five-fold sequential collision test, all results passed, and the passenger cabin structure remained intact.

According to reports, the XPeng GX is China's first fully self-developed Robotaxi production model, the industry's first with aviation-grade six-fold global safety redundancy, raising the safety factor to the level of civil aviation safety. IT Home summarizes as follows:

  • Steering redundancy: The world's first four-fold safety backup for the steering system, allowing the car to safely pull over and stop, providing users with the utmost sense of security.

  • Braking redundancy: Dual insurance with by-wire hydraulic and electronic braking, eliminating brake failure and steering deviation.

  • Drive redundancy: control loop + motor to prevent sudden stall;

  • Communication redundancy: dual CAN bus transmission to ensure reliable delivery of core commands such as steering and braking;

  • Power redundancy: dual power backup, no downtime even in extreme conditions;

  • Unlocking redundancy: dual door unlocking + quadruple opening backup, doors can be opened normally under any circumstances, facilitating rescue and passenger evacuation.

In terms of power, the new car offers both pure electric and extended-range versions. The extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5T range extender, with a pure electric range of 430km and a comprehensive range of over 1585km; the pure electric version is based on the 800V high-voltage silicon carbide platform, with a CLTC range of up to 750km and supports 5C ultra-fast charging technology. The entire lineup comes standard with dual-chamber air suspension and CDC damping adjustment, balancing comfort and handling support.
