IT之家 reported on May 17 that the source Canon Rumors posted an article two days ago, previewing the detailed specifications of the Canon EOS R8 Mark II camera. The new model will feature a retro design and will be positioned more towards still photography.

According to the information, the EOS R8 Mark II will take a "retro" approach, though the exact body design details are not yet known. Considering that Canon already has photo/video hybrid models like the V1, R50 V, R6 V, and R5 Mark II below $4,000, the R8 Mark II is better suited to shift towards a still photography focus, rather than continuing to compete on video specs.
In terms of specs,This camera is expected to be equipped with a 32.5-megapixel sensor, focusing on still photography, but the electronic shutter readout speed may be relatively slow. Based on Canon's past patterns, the camera could be announced before the end of August to catch the promotional season.
Meanwhile, there is currently an issue with Canon's RF-mount super-telephoto lens lineup. The more affordable options include the 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1L IS USM and the 200-800mm f/6.3-9 IS USM, but stepping up to the five-figure USD range is not very consumer-friendly.
Therefore, Canon is likely to release a super-telephoto zoom lens in the $5,000–$6,000 range this year (Note from IT Home: approximately RMB 34,132–40,958 at current exchange rates). It is expected to be a 300-600mm f/5.6L IS USM, which would precisely fill the gap between the 100-500mm and 100-300mm lenses.
Additionally, Canon may also launch a VCM prime lens this year, possibly a 105mm or 135mm, though specifications have yet to be determined.
