The Business of Apps newsletter is evolving

For years, Business of Apps Daily was… well, sent daily, providing our subscribers with a steady stream of app news and insights. We were pretty good at it too; curating the best and most relevant app content day in, day out is no easy feat — you can trust us on this one. What’s more, we able to build a decently sized and engaged audience of around 15k subscribers.

This is all changing now, and we are now Business of Apps Weekly. As the new name suggests, we are now moving to a weekly format. Furthermore, we are changing email providers. Finally, we are updating our style and presentation.

Is your privacy opt-in rate costing you $525,000 a year?

The gap between a 65% and 90%+ privacy opt-in rate can mean $525,000 in lost revenue annually for a 100K DAU app — and most teams have no idea where they stand.

This guide breaks down the true cost of consent debt, why the average app sits at just 80% opt-in, and the exact tactics top performers use to consistently hit 90%+: prompt timing, banner design, vendor list optimization, and more.

Download the Guide.

First off, let’s look at what’s changing:

  • Going forward, we will be sending once weekly, usually on Tuesday morning, UK time.
  • We are also moving from HubSpot to beehiiv.
  • Finally, instead of curating third-party news and resources, we will be focusing mostly on our own content. However, we will still feature some of the best articles written by third parties. Stories will be much more in-depth. Instead of one-paragraph summaries, we will be offering much more detailed breakdowns of key data and information.
  • The whole look and feel is also changing, but we won’t be giving away too much on this one. Come and see!

To address the inevitable why, it’s mostly a question of time, quality, and what the industry really needs. As mentioned, doing this daily is no easy feat, especially during slow news cycles (e.g., early January, mid-August) when there is little going on. Switching to weekly means what we share is always relevant and summarised in detail, so the reader doesn’t need to click out.

Finally, over the past few years, we’ve turned Business of Apps into a content powerhouse, publishing insights, video, data, reports, and guides on a weekly basis. A weekly newsletter is simply one of the best ways to share that work more widely, without overwhelming readers and risking attrition.

We are excited about this next phase of Business of Apps (now) Weekly and remain committed to delivering you the best content possible.
