NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 06: Actor Timothée Chalamet reacts after Game Two of the Second Round of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers at Madison Square Garden on May 06, 2026 in New York City.

Timothee Chalamet revealed some major news ahead of the World Cup, and it involves Lionel Messi, Bad Bunny, Lamine Yamal, Jude Bellingham, Trinity Rodman and David Beckham among other notable celebrities. Chalamet struck a deal with Adidas as the company just dropped a new commercial ahead of the World Cup.

The new ad campaign is called “Backyard Legends.” Chalamet is tasked with organizing a street soccer match as the commercial features no shortage of star power.

Chalamet teased the news on May 6, while the new five-minute video officially dropped one day later.

“TMRW MY SOCC- FOOTBALL DREAMS COME TRUE !! @adidas,” Chalamet posted on Instagram along with a teaser.

It will be worth watching to see if there will be any other collabs between Chalamet and Adidas during the World Cup. Chalamet labeled the commercial as a “dream.”

“I used to dream of playing with these guys – you know, I was playing at Pier 40 as a kid, thinking about Beckham’s free kicks, Del Piero’s goals, and Zidane’s volleys – doing my own versions,” Chalamet detailed in ad Adidas press release on May 7. “I love this game, so it’s unbelievable to be doing this with adidas, captured with the best to ever do it.

“I’m a traditionalist, I don’t know soccer, I know football, and I can’t wait for this summer’s World Cup.”

Here’s a look at the new World Cup commercial that has fans buzzing.

Timothee Chalamet Stars Alongside Messi, Bad Bunny & Other Notable Celebs in New Adidas World Cup Commercial

It has been quite a few weeks for Chalamet. The star has been front and center sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden during the New York Knicks‘ impressive NBA playoff run.

Now, Chalamet is the headliner in Adidas’ new ad campaign alongside Messi and Bad Bunny. It is no surprise that Messi is featured in the new commercial given the legend and even his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, have long been part of the Three Stripes team.

Chalamet was spotted sitting courtside alongside girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, as the Knicks notched another victory against the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2.

Adidas Released 1994 Inspired World Cup Gear

Nike may be the official partner of the United States National Team, but Adidas has been making sure USMNT fans are well equipped. From Sambas to throwback jerseys inspired by the 1994 denim stars and stripes motif, Adidas already dropped an entire new line of nostalgia-infused apparel.

The United States is co-hosting the World Cup for the first time since 1994.

“Everyone remembers that feeling: playing for the joy of it, no pressure, no expectations,” Adidas vice president Florian Alt explained. “With ‘Backyard Legends,’ we celebrate that freedom. It’s a reminder that self-belief and playfulness are the real winning mindset.

“As our athletes and federations take to the biggest sporting stage this summer, we know that pressure is part of sport, we hear that directly from them. While we encourage competitiveness, our ambition is to inspire everyone, to disarm that pressure through playing free and believing, ‘You Got This’.”
