Steelers Arthur Smith could be a top candidate to become Titans next head coach.

Seeing as the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the most popular teams in all of sports, it would make sense that one of their newest players would get his jersey bought by a lot of fans. In this particular case, that player is none other than former Penn State star and recent third-round pick Drew Allar.

Not only does Allar have one of the top 10-selling jerseys among NFL rookies, but he is fourth on the list, according to Fanatics. With the uncertainty at the quarterback position in Pittsburgh as of this moment, Allar’s career could take off sooner than expected.

Could Drew Allar Start for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Year 1?

Drew Allar may have never been drafted by the Steelers if Sam Leavitt didn't transfer to LSU.

While it is still unknown if legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers will return for at least one more run in the Steel City, Pittsburgh has plenty of options at the position in case he decides against it. Allar is one of them. However, he may be at the bottom of the totem pole with veteran Mason Rudolph and second-year man Will Howard already in the fold.

Despite Allar’s lack of NFL experience, he is set to have a great teacher in former Super Bowl-winning head coach Mike McCarthy. Standing at 6’5″ and weighing close to 230 pounds, Allar has a lot of the physical traits that could set him up for greatness at the next level. McCarthy is well-known for being one of the best quarterback developers and offensive minds of his generation. He has coached notable signal-callers such as Brett Favre, Rodgers, Dak Prescott, and Alex Smith, among others.

Aaron Rodgers Should Still Be the Goal in Pittsburgh

Aaron Rodgers

GettyQB Aaron Rodgers led the Steelers to their first AFC North title in five years last season.

Despite Pittsburgh having plenty of options at the quarterback position, fans should still be hoping for Rodgers to return. The four-time MVP and Super Bowl MVP is one of the greatest to ever play the game. He is the only quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 400 touchdown passes and post a passer rating above 100.

Even though he was playing at 42 years of age and battling a fractured wrist last season, he was still able to record 25 total touchdowns and just seven interceptions. His passer rating of 94.8 was nothing to shake your head at, either. Without his steady play, the Steelers likely don’t make the playoffs in Mike Tomlin‘s final year.

With McCarthy becoming the head coach in Pittsburgh this offseason, it would make total sense that Rodgers would want to come back for at least one more run. The two previously spent a total of 13 years together with the Green Bay Packers (2006-2018). Rodgers was the starter for 11 of those years. In those 11 years, the Packers made the playoffs eight consecutive years, won five NFC North titles, and took home a Super Bowl. McCarthy helped Rodgers win two of his four MVPs and earn his way to seven Pro Bowls.
