Could the Blackhawks swing a deal for Senators star Brady Tkachuk?

The New York Rangers are going to be a team to watch very closely during the offseason. With the Rangers being in a retool, there is a chance that we will end up seeing more of their players get traded during the summer.

While this is the case, the Rangers very well could also look to add to their roster during the offseason. The Rangers’ goal is to improve, and it would be understandable if they looked to add talent that would benefit them beyond next season.

One specific area that the Rangers should be looking to improve is their forward group. Because of this, let’s take a look at three specific star forwards who the Rangers should strongly consider targeting during the offseason.

Rangers Should Kick Tires on Stars’ Jason Robertson

When looking at trade candidates around the NHL, Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson stands out as a potential perfect target for the Rangers. At 26 years old, Robertson would have the potential to be a strong long-term part of the Rangers’ core as they look to head back into the right direction.

Robertson has been creating plenty of chatter in the rumor mill as a trade candidate since the Stars’ early playoff exit. With Robertson being a pending restricted free agent, the Stars could trade him if negotiations do not go well. If the Stars do make him available, expect the Rangers to be among the teams interested in him.

In 82 games this season with the Stars, Robertson had 45 goals, 51 assists, 96 points, and a plus-22 rating.

Rangers Could Land Their New First-Line Center With Blues’ Robert Thomas

Another player who the Rangers would be wise to pursue during the summer is St. Louis Blues center Robert Thomas. With the Blues being in a rebuild, Thomas is a player that they have already listened to offers for in the past. This is expected to translate over to the summer, and the Rangers would be smart to try to land him because of it.

If the Rangers acquired Thomas from the Blues, he would become their new first-line center. He would also be a long-term part of the Rangers’ roster, as he is signed until the completion of the 2030-31 season. With this, the 26-year-old center who be a perfect fit on the Rangers if acquired.

Thomas had 25 goals, 39 assists, and 64 points in 64 games this season with the Blues. With these numbers, he would be a major pickup for New York.

Rangers Have Their Dream Target In Senators’ Brady Tkachuk

If the Senators end up making Brady Tkachuk available for trade this offseason, the Rangers undoubtedly need to pursue him. It is no secret that New York could use a power forward on their first line, and bringing in Tkachuk would provide them with just that.

Tkachuk would also give the Rangers a well-known leader in their room, which is a need for a Rangers club that is looking to get things back on track. With this, keep an eye on New York when it comes to Tkachuk this offseason.
