The New York Mets will use an opener ahead of David Peterson.
The New York Mets lineup for a matchup against the Colorado Rockies on Monday, May 4, will not include left-hander David Peterson.
Right-hander Huascar Brazoban will start for the Mets, per Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Peterson is an option to work in bulk relief. The veteran was pounded for seven earned runs in his last outing, a blowout loss to the Washington Nationals. It was his first start following two appearances out of the bullpen.
The Mets are looking for their first win of the season against the Rockies. Colorado swept a three-game set at Citi Field near the end of April. Peterson did not pitch in that series.

Peterson’s first outing of the season went well. He held the Pittsburgh Pirates scoreless across 5.1 innings. Since then, his season has gone downhill. The San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks both blasted Peterson for five earned runs to open April. The 30-year-old gave up four earned runs over five innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers, pushing his ERA to 6.41. The Mets chose to bump Peterson to the bullpen after that outing.
