On Wednesday night, the Los Angeles Sparks fell short against the Indiana Fever at Crypto.com Arena. Cameron Brink had her best game since August 2025, prompting coach Lynne Roberts to shut down the narrative surrounding her player.

Speaking to reporters after the Sparks’ 87-78 loss to the Fever, Roberts had nothing but praise for Brink, who finished with 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks in 19 minutes off the bench.

“She didn’t have a slow start. We’ve played two games,” Roberts said, via ClutchPoints. “She had a great game today. So the narrative of like, ‘What’s going on with Cam?’ It’s nothing. She’s doing great, so we got to stop the narrative.”

It was Brink’s first double-digit scoring game since August 20, 2025 against the Dallas Wings at home. She had 11 points and eight rebounds that night in a win for the Sparks.

The narrative surrounding Brink began after her disappointing season-opening performance against the Las Vegas Aces. She was scoreless in eight minutes, grabbing three rebounds in the Sparks’ 105-78 loss.

Since getting drafted second overall by the Sparks in 2024, Cameron Brink has fallen short of expectations mainly due to injuries. Brink suffered a torn ACL on her left knee 15 games into her rookie season.

The Stanford product missed the rest of the season, as well as the first half of last season. She returned to the court on July 29, 2025, but she was on a minutes restriction. She averaged just 5.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 19 games.

Entering her third season fully healthy, there was a lot of expectations for Brink. Following her disappointing first game, a narrative was immediately presented on social media regarding her fit with the Sparks and coach Lynne Roberts’ system.

In her postgame media availability on Wednesday, Brink commented on her performance against the Fever. She discussed her defensive impact on the Sparks, which included a highlight block on Caitlin Clark.

“I’m a defensive-minded player so I feel like that’s what gets me going,” Brink said, via EssentiallySports. “If I’m super locked in and just loud and talking on defense, I feel like that can fuel the team. I’m really proud of the way we fought back today. We’re going to be better.”

The Sparks are back in action on Friday, hosting the Toronto Tempo at Crypto.com Arena.

In addition to working on her game, Cameron Brink was active on the court in the offseason. Brink finally made her debut for Unrivaled, suiting up for Breeze BC. She helped the Breeze reach the semifinals, losing to Laces BC.

Brink averaged 10.9 points and 6.2 rebounds in 13 games. Her best game was a 21-point performance against eventual champions Mist BC on February 23.
