The Minnesota Vikings currently hold 9 selections throughout the 7 rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft, and they could pull a fast one on the NFL.

Most notably, Minnesota has 4 selections in the first 100 total of the draft. The popular opinion is that the Vikings will look to infuse their defense with young talent with the majority of the selections.

Leading the draft is interim GM Rob Brzezinski, whom the Vikings have confidence in.

Vikings Have Confidence in Brzezinski to Lead 2026 NFL Draft Efforts

The Vikings ousted Kwesi Adofo-Mensah at a very interesting time this offseason. His firing on January 30th was weeks after everyone else that made moves at the position had fired and hired their new guys.

Instead, the Vikings waited until the Senior Bowl (in which Adofo-Mensah was busy attending) to let him go. They named long-time “cap guru” Rob Brzezinski the interim lead-man, and will hire a new full-time GM post-draft.

In a “well I would sure hope so” situation, Minnesota does have confidence in Brzezinski to lead the draft efforts, per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

“The late timing of the dismissal helps explain their decision; the free agent market was set to begin in 40 days and the NFL draft 43 days after that.

For the most part, however, the Wilfs wanted to delay the disruption of a general manager search until after the draft. They had watched Adofo-Mensah’s first draft in 2022 flop — Adofo-Mensah later regretted the approach he took — and hoped Brzezinski’s experience could make the most of a difficult situation.

Minnesota Reveals Potential 2026 NFL Draft Strategy

Brzezinski shared some insight into how the Vikings will attack the upcoming draft.

“We’re not going to try to manufacture anything that’s not there. The key is just getting [prospects] stacked and getting them stacked objectively. And we’re obviously going to do everything we can to fill our needs when we’re on the clock, but our goal is to get the board set objectively so we really see where the talent is and then kind of let it fall to us.”

The Vikings sit at 18th in the first round, but could surely trade down from the pick. Talent at positions of need like IDL Kayden McDonald and CB Colton Hood are likely to be available in the late-first.
